How long before a difference is noticed. I have a lower ab muscle that sticks out further than the other side it is above the point where my muscle attaches to my pelvis and seems I have a sports hernia from running in the woods I was doing three to four miles a day when this muscle became swollen and sticks out but I cannot feel where anything is protruding. Hurts across to both sides the one that stick out further not by much though is my right side. Both inguinal side hurt right by my pelivic bone sticks out at my hip. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I just lost fifty pounds this year.thank you

Sounds like a weakened muscle left loose from the bone; not necessarily a hernia. If it were me I would wrap it tight just like a broken rib and see if it heals itself. Any injury can expect to manifest swelling so immobilization for a couple weeks may well do the trick but it isn't guaranteed. In any case I would be a couch potato for a couple days and then go to a light workout continuing with the wrap which can be removed if no pain is present but activity without the wrap should test the injury with caution....no sudden movements.
