Hi everyone! I just came across this group and have had a inguinal hernia for a little over a year, well probably a lot longer than that but just started popping out about a year or so ago. I came across a website that talked about using comfrey poultice and used it for a few months but I still have it popping out. I am not sure I should still use it because I am just not sure if it is going to help. Now if I knew it worked for someone else I would continue to try...

Has anyone tried this on their hernia? The website is http://www.naeturalhealthinformation.com/

When they talked to me on the phone they told me not to do exercises while I am using the comfrey. I don't like that idea because I need more exercise in my life... :)

If you think I should stop using it and do some exercises. Can you point me in the right direction on what exercises I should do. Maybe point me to some videos of a workout I should be doing.

Also Is there a diet I should be on? Should I cut out all sugars and/or other foods?

Thank you all in advance... :)

I, like you tried lot of different things to no avail..sometimes it got
better for a while. Then right back to square one, maybe a little
worst. Finally got the operation and haven't regretted it..looking
back I think I wasted some of my time..good luck !!  Ron

Diet: Low glycemic index, i.e. no or low sugars and refined carbohydrates. High fibre, sufficient protein and healthy fats. Probiotics and prebiotics e.g. onions are good. Curry spice, masala spice (as in Indian chai masala), Chinese-style five-spice are good.

Exercise: Aerobic exercise e.g. walking, cycling, swimming, weight training with lighter weights and more reps are OK. Appropriate yoga e.g. shoulderstand, bridge, camel, corpse poses. Don't do snake, wheel, downward dog. If you don't know them, find a teacher, book or video instruction.

I can't vouch for comfrey because I didn't use it. Think about the synergy of using the poultice in combination with other healthy practices!

That's all I can write for now because I am at work!

Hi - sorry for this late reply; I don't have any feedback on the comfrey poultice, since I haven't researched it nor used any. But I have had good results with the "standard" method discussed all along. Please refer to my other posts, I'm not sure if what I do is necessarily understood as standard.   I have been tempted a few times to just get it over and have an operation, but I'm always slowly progressing, and this has prevented me from pursuing this further.
Good part is that I know where I'd go (well.. more or less) if I wanted it done.

Hello; I have no advice on Comfrey but that notion has recalled my experiences with Oregano Oil.....best herb I have for inflammation of any type. It is readily absorbed into the skin and takes redness of infection  away quickly. I buy the P73 bottles on ebay and shop around for the best prices.

One word of caution....it will cause pain for a few minutes in tender flesh and if you get it in your eyes flush immediately with plenty of cold water like I did a few days ago....but it caused no ill effects or vision disruption.

BTW; I have been diagnosed with Glaucoma in the left eye and am now treating with prescription eye drops once before bed everyday for the rest of my life.

Best; Wilson
