COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATES:
Herndon Environmental Network has made great strides toward establishing the Bruin Park Community Garden Last month, the Garden committee held a “Green” Happy Hour at GreenFare, and raised over $2,000! Thanks again to the Herndon restaurant for allowing us to participate in a great, fun event. Check out our web page for details about the project.
Community Garden Planning Meeting
When: Thu, August 25, 7:30pm – 8:30pm

Thanks to everyone who came out and saw us at the HEN table at the Herndon Farmers Market in July.

WHERE: Downtown Herndon
We will have information about the Community Garden project, as well as an awesome craft featuring the Monarch Butterfly!

Habitat Heroes
WHEN: Saturday, August 6, 9:00am-11:00pm
WHERE: Stanton Park, 910 Third Street, Herndon 20170
Note: Bring water and bug spray and make sure you wear long sleeves and long pants - there is poison ivy at this site. We are providing gloves and tools. No knowledge of invasive plants is necessary, we will provide training on site.

NatureFest Herndon will be here soon! Sunday, September 25, 1-5pm @ Runnymede Park. Explore various nature stations throughout the park including butterflies, bees, life in the meadow, web of life, and much more. Live animal shows throughout the day. Arts and crafts and fun for the whole family will be included! Event is free and co-sponsored by The Friends of Runnymede Park and Herndon Parks and Recreation Department. Contact us to volunteer at the HEN table!
