COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATES:


Public Hearing on the Town of Herndon Proposed FY 2018 Budget

When: Tue, April 25; 7 PM

Where: Council Chambers, 765 Lynn St

Please attend this meeting and comment in support of the community garden

HERNDON EVENTS AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:


HEN Habitat Heroes - Invasive Plant Removal

2017 Dates: May 20, June 24, July 22, August 26, October 21

Time: 9 AM to 11 AM

Where: Stanton Park, 910 Third Street, Herndon 20170 (meet at park entrance)

Join us in our effort to reduce the spread of non-native invasive plants such as Japanese wisteria, burning bush, English ivy and multiflora rose.

Bring water and bug spray and make sure you wear long sleeves and long pants - there is poison ivy at this site. We are providing gloves and tools. No knowledge of invasive plants is necessary, training will be provided on site.

Native Plant Sale

When: Saturday, May 6; 10 AM to 2 PM

Where: Runnymede Park, 195 Herndon Parkway, Herndon 20170

Resistance Tuesdays

When: Every Tuesday at 12 PM (Gather at 11:45 AM)

DETAILS: People's Action affiliates around the country have pledged to stage public events every Tuesday in resistance to President Donald Trump's agenda and to strengthen the movement for a people-and-planet agenda that serves the needs of all people, not just the wealthy and powerful.

Thermal Camera Loan Program

When: Starting on Earth Day - April 22

Where: Fairfax County Public Library

DETAILS: Thermal cameras reveal hot and cold spots in your home. These spots indicate a lack of air sealing or insulation. Thermal camera attachments for your iPhone or Android Phone are now available through the Fairfax County Public Library. Reserve the camera as you would a book, and the camera will be sent to your local library branch for pick-up. More information
