Hello again, HEN followers. Read on for news and info about what is going on this month (with a sneak peek at upcoming events):
COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATES:
We are hard at work fundraising for the Community Garden project and we need your help! The garden will be located at Bruin Park (off Van Buren Street). There are several steps that still need to be completed before construction can begin: signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Fairfax County Park Authority and the Town of Herndon, getting insurance to cover our activities at the garden site, etc.
One of the most essential steps is raising money to bring water to the site. We are looking to raise around $8,000 at this point (a big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped raise almost $2,000 so far!)

Movie: Won’t Pipe Down / Oil & Gas Pipelines in Virginia's Energy Future
WHEN: Monday, June 6, 7 pm - 8:30 pm
WHERE: Reston Regional Library, 11925 Bowman Towne Drive, Reston, VA
DETAILS: Come see the short documentary film Won't Pipe Down.The film presents the battle between the residents of Nelson County, Virginia, and the Dominion Power company.

Herndon/Reston Sustainable Garden Tour
WHEN: Sunday, June 12, 1 pm to 5 pm
WHERE: miscellaneous gardens, both private and public, in the Herndon/Reston area
Featuring rain gardens, green roofs, native plant landscaping, rain barrels, backyard wildlife habitat, composting and more.
Free; visit at your own pace, no RSVP is required.
