Hi, while working on a new module Basic,
I realized (for a fifth time) that having linear
and nonlinear forms is a real pain. They
complicate assembling, in weakform_library
we always have a "linear" version to each
default form, if a linear problem needs to
be extended to nonlinear then it has to be
changed completely. Now we found with Franta
that we would have to introduce this distinction
to weak forms on a very basic level. In my
opinion, Hermes users are intelligent enough
to understand that Newton's method applied to
a linear problem converges in one iteration
(and if not, it is a bug in the code that a linear
problem would not discover). For people using
the GUI this will be hidden.
Plus, if we want to do it, now is the time. After
we have a first stable release, it will be too late.
Please let me know if you think that this
would be a bad decision.
