MX-P50M amplifier connection

So I got an MX-P50M amplifier. I tried running a cable to the Key PTT on the front of the Hermes to get it to key up on Transmit. I connected the wires from the back of the MX to the front TRS on Hermes. Tried different combinations. TX light comes on and stays on as soon as I plug it in. I am running Thetis with Virtual Audio Cables. I have tried different setting on both with no success. Anyone know how to make this work properly?

The PTT line from the amp should be connected to the EXTR connector on the BACK of the HL 2, not to the Key PTT on the front.

Thank you Steve. Do you think it matters how I am configured for transmit in Thetis or Virtual Audio Cables?
