Does anyone who has a HL2 also have an Acom amplifier that they use with Thetis and the HL2?

Here is what I am wondering:

I have an Acom 600s amplifier that I use with my Flex 6500.  To drive the Acom to full output of 600 watts it takes 17 watts out from the Flex.  Am I correct that 17 watts is about 10db?

I opened up the Acom and found that it has a 10db signal reduction device on the input to the amplifier board.

If I were to remove that device could I drive the Acom to full power with one or two watts of signal from the HL2.?

Has anyone tried this on an Acom or any other amplifiers?  I really do not want to destroy the Acom but what a great combination that might be.

Hi Dalton,

Acom told me last year that for a 700S, 1200S and similar models the 10 dB attenuator can be replaced by a 50 Ohms resistor to reduce the necessary input so that the HL II can drive the amp to its full output. I have never done this so far, however, because my project of using HL II's for a light weight DXpedition is still on hold for some reasons. So I cannot tell you how well it really will work. Important for me was that the attenuator has not be replaced by a simple wire but a 50 Ohm resistor (I have bought one with a very low inductance).
