Thanks for answering my last question.  I hope I am not being annoying, but I have a couple of other questions.  I am budgeting to get a new radio next year and HL2 is one of the finalists.  I want to make an informed decision.

Because of noise, I currently use an SDR-RTL as a receiver with a LOG.   I transmit through a Ft840.  I would like to maintain the use of a receive only antenna.  Does HL2 support this?  Does Thetis support this?

As far as the amp, I am looking at the RM Italy KL 505v.  Will this amp work with the HL2?

You will have to add low pass filters for the bands that you want to use, or get a multi band filter from AliExpress or make one,

I would not recommend that amp for use with the hermes. As mentioned, to make it legal to use in the US, you will need a low pass filter board that can handle that much power. There are quite a few other amps that will work great with the Hermes. If you want higher power RM italy one, the RM ITALY HLA305 (HLA-305V) is a well reviewed amp.

On the topic of using the LoG with the HL2, you will need to use an external automatic T/R switch to switch between the LoG and your transmit antenna. You may be able to set this up with the N2ADR I/O add-on board, but I couldn't find the details. I built one of these: https://www.qrpkits.com/eztrswitch.html. The problem I had was that the LoG didn't do any better than my 84' random wire with NR2 at my QTH, so I abandoned that project. I have horrible RFI and noise at my QTH anyways, so I instead operate mostly portable.

To make it legal to use in the USA it primarily cannot amplify on the 11 meter band.  The HLA-305V does meet FCC certification and also has LPF  with auto band switching.  An RCA plug coax cable from the HL2 to the amp is all that is needed to control PTT on the amp.  I have one of these and thus far it has been solid.  It benefits from a 3dB switchable attenuation that makes it easy to work with both 5W and 10W transceivers. It is also currently on sale at DX Engineering.

There are quite a number of other amplifiers that can work well with the HL2.  Search and you will find many different branded options.

For dedicated receive antenna I believe the optional I/O board is one way to accomplish this.  Can't say I know much about the setup though.  I can say that with the HL2 using the NR2 noise reduction available in the SDR software such as PiHPSDR or Thetis you may find it unnecessary.
