Rigflow reaches 1.0 — a free, open-source client/server SDR for remote HF

Rigflow has reached its 1.0 milestone. After being refined on the air across the 0.1 series, this free, open-source SDR application for amateur radio — written in Rust, MIT-licensed — is now a complete operating position.

What it is. Rigflow splits the radio into two pieces. A lightweight server owns the hardware and does the DSP; a desktop client gives you the spectrum/waterfall, tuning, and controls. They talk over a small WebSocket control channel plus UDP media. Why bother? So the server can sit on a low-power box right at the antenna — a Raspberry Pi, say — while you operate from your laptop anywhere on your network or over the internet. One client can work multiple radios, and each remembers where you left it.

On the air. Rigflow receives WFM/NFM/AM/SSB/CW and digital, with a real-time spectrum + waterfall, click/scroll/keyboard tuning, noise reduction (NR2), AGC, auto-notch, and a noise blanker. On the Hermes Lite 2 it also transmits: SSB from your mic (with a soft limiter, speech compressor, and a voice keyer), CW (straight-key or text-to-CW with F1–F4 macros and sidetone), and FT8/WSJT-X — on Linux via virtual audio or TCI, on macOS via TCI (no BlackHole, no mic permission).  You also get dual-watch (two receivers at once), split, and RIT/XIT. Supported hardware: Hermes Lite 2 (RX+TX), RTL-SDR (RX, including direct-sampling HF), optional Hardrock-50 amplifier control, plus WAV IQ playback and a built-in test tone.

What 1.0 adds — the features that complete the operating position:
  • Contact logging. A built-in logbook with worked-before hints, a filterable Contacts view (edit/delete/multi-select), and automatic logging of WSJT-X/FT8 QSOs. Full ADIF import/export, plus direct LoTW / eQSL / QRZ upload and confirmation sync — credentials kept in your OS keyring.
  • Callbook lookup. As you log, Rigflow auto-fills name, QTH, grid, and DXCC from QRZ / HamQTH / Callook, over an always-on offline prefix baseline that fills country and zones with no network.
  •  DX cluster. Connect to a cluster node and see live spots overlaid on your waterfall and in a click-to-tune band map, filtered to your band and modes.

Platforms. Server on Linux (x86-64 and Raspberry Pi/ARM); client on Linux and macOS. Prebuilt binaries need no Rust toolchain.

Rigflow is developed in the open and used on the air. It controls transmitters and amplifiers, so operate within your license and verify your signal.
