Here is the final release of v2.10.3.8 of Thetis for HL2.

WARNING - This release requires a rebuild of the database if you are upgrading
from 2.10.3.6.

- Fixed Mic control issue
- Increased receiver Attenuate to full range, 32dB max attenuation
- Updated code base to latest official code
- Enabled software side-tone
- Fixed issue with lock-up with no I/O Board installed

Warren has added side-tone to his library, which has reduced the latency for CW operation. I have seen latencies of 60 msec paddle to side-tone using MIDI and just the VAC drivers. YMMV.

This release contains the database manager. If you have other Anan radios, this release will work with them, but you must define separate databases and select the correct database with the -dbid: option. This release creates the shortcut with -dbid:HL2. As the official release of Thetis for the Anan series of radios is not HL2 aware, there may be issues if you try to use the official Thetis with a database that is HL2 aware. Please back up your databases.

No warranty or guarantee, use at your own risk. Do a backup of your current Thetis database just in case.

Cheers

Hello Steve and everyone in HL2 Land,

I want to recommend a new feature which will help non-programmer's connect such devices as antenna switches, multiple tuners, amplifiers to your excellent HH2 & Thetis.

First let me tell you that I downloaded and installed v2.10.8 release today and it is working for me.

Second, I have been using theUSB/BCD Enable and the FTDI Bit-Bang cable for almost a year and it works brilliantly except that when starting it does not remember that you have a cable attached. Yes the Enable box is still checked but the cable is not remembered and attached.  Furthermore you can not select a cable with the drop down until you first disable Enable and re-click on Enable before selecting the cable in the dropdown box.

Ok to my suggestion:

On General/Options/HL2 Options

There is a section I/O Board Pin States with a Pin Control Option. Clicking this enables the user to toggle the state of J6 & J4 pins on the I/O board.  I have tested this and it works well.  But it could be much more usefull in everyday operations as a method for doing many things like changing antenna relays, or switching tuners or controlling amplifiers depending on the band the operator is operating on.

My suggestion will look something like the attached drawing:

With Pin Control selected the operator could program BCD codes for different bands in the first nibble as in my example.  He (or she) could also use the second nibble to switch antennas based upon band for example.  An important part of this would be to help users without the programming expertise to code the pico to do simple things like this.

As for programming the pico. Using Jim’s examples and a little knowledge of C++ is not impossible, but setting up the complination environement is a horse of a different color.  I have spent months trying to get a compllete complination and that has been holding up my remoting the radio as the USB/BCD cable from the computer can not work for remote where the computer is no longer colociated with the radio and amplifier.

Please consider my suggestion and look into recovering the USB/BCD cable settings when Thetis is restarted.

Thank You,

Dalton

Does this version require a install of the ramdor Thetis V2.10.3.8 underneath or will an older version do?

Thanks,
Bill

you have something incorrect in your setup

The FTDI chipset  for BCD under Thetis retains on a computer shutdown / restart

I have been using this method for a long while now as are others.

I would suggest you uninstall the FDTI drivers and let windows reinstall them, I would uninstall in safe mode and then restart in which windows should find and add the driver.

Then test on a shutdown and restart, the other issue could be if your using a  USB hub which is NEVER a good idea- hubs usually cannot supply the needed voltage in situations to correctly power many USB devices and will cause problems

60ms latency for CW side tone doesn't sound right.  Even without any new special side tone in the library the side tone from the built in MIDI keyer in piHPSDR has only a couple ms latency.

Bonjour,

Merci

Cordialement,
