Last week assembled HL2 with NAdr2 filter  board ,and try to setup for receive
However from initial start cannot receive anything ,only noise?
If i configured also for transmit. I can test transmit and seems to work. I can see a waterfall signal and signal on the mic dignal meter . I tried  with different antenna's megactiv 205 sft and a sigma hf360. on both i cannot receive anything? For test i also hooked it up an other sdr  RX888MK2 to the same antenna's and the work  normal? What could be the problem.?
Ik follow the setup  settings  from  ON7OFF (zerotohero) but nothing helps.
Is it possible to do a check if receive connector is working?
Now have feeling my HL2 is totaly  deaf.
since i received the kit on 03-06-2026, and it has never received , it maybe a doa?

Any suggestions, what to do?

Thanks Theo

Hi Theo,

Some possible explanations for this problem are:

1. LNA gain is not set to an adequate level. Check the videos regarding setting the LNA. Try some other software.
2. Connector between N2ADR board and HL2 is not installed or installed incorrectly. Please send a photograph of how you have these connected.
3. A relay on the N2ADR or HL2 may be stuck. Please try a direct RX antenna connection as described on this page.

Hi Steve, did some checking on your advice

1 LNA gain is set automatic and step attenuation is auto (green)
2 photo of connectorboard with mainboard
image.png

2 Direct connect of a longwire
I take a AWG16 wire of about 4 Meters and attached it to Pin 6 of the mainboard and try to receive anything ,but all  giving no result , only noise.

3. Tried other software SDR Console 3.4 with Hermeslite 2
Result same , only Noise.

If i compare the connection with same antenna to RX888 MK2 in the readio console i get directly many stations on 20M, but HL2 nothing at all. In SDR console 3.4

on theits only this screen with noise, on all bands

Thanx for any help

Hi Theo,

Thanks for the checks. Your HL2 may need a warranty exchange, but I'd like to request two more checks first.

  1. Is there a DC path (near zero Ohm with standard Ohm meter) from one side of B81 to ground? This checks that inductors and components on the RX path are not open. See page 5 of the HL2 schematic at www.hermeslite.com
  2. Please post photos of the portion of the HL2 board (top and bottom) where the RX path is. In particular, make sure the area including U7, T2 up to the edge where B81 is visible, top and bottom. This enables a visual inspection of the components.

Hi steve did some checking , on your advise
-1 b81 to ground is infiteid as far i can measure with multimeter.
attached the requested photos top and bottom of the PCB with U7 and T2 area to B81

Hi Theo,

From your photos, it appears T2 was dislodged possibly due to shipping/handling or final assembly. This would explain your RX deafness. See the attached picture for how a properly soldered T2 should look. Are you or do you have a friend who is comfortable with resoldering T2? It is a fairly easy repair for someone familiar with surface mount assembly. Alternatively, you could also remove T2 and replace with a through-hole wound BN43-2402. See the schematic or search this list for T2.

Optional hand wind BN43-2402 14T:5T with 14T towards U7.

Some people choose to replace T2 like this to improve VLF reception.

If none of these options will work for you, I can arrange a warranty replacement via private e-mail.
