SSB transmit audio

Hello,

I’m having a strange issue and I’ve spent months trying to figure it out. When I transmit on AM my transmit audio is great. Quiet and clear. No background noise. But when I switch to SSB the background noise is overwhelming when I transmit. And I can’t figure it out. I’ve tried a new database. I’ve adjusted almost every setting. CFC/dexp. Changed mics. Tried usb mics. But nothing seems to work so I thought I’d try my luck on here. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Which SDR software are you using? 73, Ron, n6ywu

I assume are you using thetis, have you focused on common mode current issue?

A detailed description of your station will help in troubleshooting...

Yes I’m running thetis. Sorry I should’ve mentioned it. No I haven’t really thought about common mode current. I’ll check in to it today and see if I have an issue.

You may have already been through this but I've found that Theitis very often changes my audio settings (I'm on the latest version). If you test transmit with MON on you'll be able to hear exactly what's going out over the air......I've experienced a lot of background noise on SSB when my audio settings mysteriously change.  When I set everything back to my headset microphone its fine. Now I check MON and audio settings every time I start Thetis.
