My HL2 from January 2024 is stating to have the failing/sticking relay issue that causes weak receive. I can see a couple threads on here over time talking about fixing it, but I'm not finding a recent part recommendation.

If anyone has a recommendation, let me know and I'll get one ordered. Thank you!

Follow up question: My N2ADR filter board also has Omron relays, are those also prone to failure?

Todd:

A quick look at the BoM shows the original Hermes Lite 2 part (not MakerFabs) can be located here:

A closer look at MakerFabs assembled boards it appears they are using this part:

I certainly would not be inclined to change all the relays unless you suspect a problem. That being said I did get into a batch of bad OMRON Relays (different part number) on a High Power LPF assembly used in a 600W HF Amplifier, which prompted me to change all of them on that assembly.

Since it would be unlikely the Hermes Lite 2 and the LPF Filter board are of the same lot, I would leave well enough alone unless you experience problems with the N2ADR board. Removing those relays can be a real pain without the proper tools.

At one point there was a US-based who bought a bunch of compatible relays. We was sending them to people as needed. Use the GUI interface to search this list:

Todd,

I sent you a pair of relays via USPS, with tracking and USPS location updates to your email.

From what I have heard and seen, most of the issues with Omron Relays has been in Europe, with only a couple instances here stateside.

Relay replacement was a success! I have reliable receive back. Thank you all for your support!

As part of my early diagnostics I removed D1 on advice from another thread. Should I order and install a replacement D1 diode?

Hi Todd,

I'm glad your TR relay replacement was successful. I recommend reinstalling D1 as it does provide some high voltage protection for the sensitive ADC.
