Hi Group,

The Hermes-Lite 2.0 project benefits when others help. Here is a list of tasks that can be done to help. Please feel free to add more. I've made this thread sticky.

* Video and/or wiki on how to use the Hermes-Lite 2.0 with PowerSDR, in particular setting PA output and using PureSignal.
* Video and/or wiki on how to use the Hermes-Lite 2.0 with SparkSDR, in particular using multiple receivers and setting the bias.
* General wiki clean-up and filling in of missing holes.
* Answer basic question on this list. Walk people though how to debug various Hermes-Lite 2.0 issues.
* Sell and distribute bare PCBs. Thanks Stew for doing this!
* Organize group buys. If this next group buy goes well, I am ready to turn this over to someone else.
* Test and software support for forward and reverse power.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for all your hard work.

Regarding forward and reverse power measurements, I wrote a post about
how I'm using fwd/rev power with my build 2 and and Hardrock-50 HF
amplifier.

http://destevez.net/2018/01/interfacing-the-hardrock-50-hf-amplifier-to-the-hermes-lite-2/

This setup is a bit peculiar, since I'm using the diode detectors in the
amplifier but the slow ADC on the HL2 to measure power. I understand
that the fwd/rev HL2 circuitry has changed in newer builds.

However, the ideas in my post are adaptable to other setups: newer HL2
builds, other amplifiers, diode detectors on a filter board, etc. I
would be happy to help anyone doing their own adaptation.

Regarding software support, I'm already using Quisk with the patch
included in the post. This works well. I don't know about support in
other software.

One thing I want to do is to add peak power / average power measurement
(and perhaps even compute peak-to-average power ratio). This is easy to
do in software, but I didn't bother to do it yet.

Dani.

Steve,
I'll certainly add some text to the help in the next Spark release for hl2 bias setting and general use.  I've not done anything on fwd/rev power yet as I have no hardware to test with, I guess there will be many options/settings for this, I'll happily add settings for any setup that people document on the wiki pages, maybe in the form of a set of points of adc value vs power that can be interpolated between.

I'd also like to get back to the predistortion, adc linearization and lots of receivers experiments that I put to one side to get the Spark 1.0 betas done.

Thanks for allow me to join.

I'm interested in doing a review video for the Hermes-Lite 2.0.  I heard about this project at the TAPR DCC this year, and I have read some info on the website.  Is there a kit or list of parts to buy, to build it?

My YouTube Channel has almost 14,000 subscribers and I think this would be a cool project to display and talk about

Hi Jason,

All the information and links are on www.hermeslite.com. The wiki releases page has information on how to obtain a unit: https://github.com/softerhardware/Hermes-Lite2/wiki/Releases

Currently there are no group buys underway. Group buys are not organized by demand, but around when I have time. We are exploring other ways to manufacture and sell the Hermes-Lite 2.

I may be able to loan you a unit for a review.

Hi Steve

Eventually I would like a unit of my own, so keep me informed of the group buy when one is planned, please.  There is no rush on my part for a video review, but I imagine that once I put it on YouTube, it could generate some interest in getting more people to buy into the group buy.  Is the normal quantity 5 assembled units from elecrow.com?

Hi Jason,

For bare printed circuit boards, 5 is a good number from elecrow.com. For partially assembled units, we go with 25 units. It is quite a bit of work to organize a group buy, plus I am selling the units for not much above cost, mainly to create a small insurance pool.

OK thanks for that, it wasn't really clear on the Github site which was which.  It looks like Assembled units are 5 at a time and printed circuit boards are 10 at a time.

What I would like to do is build one of these on my show, but I don't want to do surface-mount soldering or anything like that.  The "partially assembled" ones that you speak of...is all the soldering done on these or if not, what parts still need to be assembled when these arrive?  Also what is the cost of these - I see the $165 price on your link, but are these partially or fully assembled for this price?
