Currently,  I'm keying the KXPA100 using a line to the PA KEY from EXTTR jack on the HL2. Next, I want to key the KPA500 amplifier from the KXPA100. I'm perplexed on how to do that. I've attached images of the rear panels of each device for your consideration and suggestions.

My HL2 does have the IO Board which I'm not familiar with yet as I'm a new HL2 user. I suspect this may be of assistance, but maybe not. I've also snipped a schematic from the KXPA100 manual as well but I can't visualize what this would look like operationally.

Additional Information: Elecraft support provided this response which seems easy enough.

"You can either wire into the correct pins on the RJ45 jack, or use a splitter or Y cable for the PA KEY jack.  The splitter or Y cable is probably easiest."

I assume the Y cable would be installed on the KXPA100 PA KEY with one branch going to the HL2 EXTTR and other to KPA500 amplifier. Does this seem reasonable?

Hi,
Since you have a KAT500 the Y-cable should go from EXTTR to the KAT500 and KXPA100 and then a RCA cable between KAT500 and KPA500.
in that way if there is a fault the KAT500 will tripp the KPA

Be shure to disable/bypass the ATU in the KXPA100 if you have one installed.

It is always good to "train" the KAT500 over the different bands, it senses bands frequency really quick.
Do not use automatic use manual tuning. (see the KAT500 manual)

Mats,

Thank for for the clarification and it aligns perfectly with a recent email I received from Elecraft Support which states, "The Y cable, center on the transceiver, one leg to the KXPA100, and the other leg to the KPA500."
