Have you been setting unique MAC addresses?  All boards come with the same MAC address, but it can be changed.

Make sure only one is on the network when making the change.

This is my 3rd HL2 and doing first boot up and can't get an ip address to light on.
It actually blinks for 3 x's and fails and then the lights go to the 2 outer lights only.

Wondering if anyone has gotten the latest version running without issues or re-install?

I did have one of those from the factory a couple of years ago that needed a re-install. Or any other ideas?

TY!

Jeff

No, just using DHCP. I can get it to connect with a DHCP IP (192.x.x.x) for 5 - 10 seconds, with just the left light on, and after that is resets and won't get the ip again. I have to repower.

Take a look here:

There are links to 3 different programs to set a unique MAC address on each radio.  Disconnect all but one, powercycle, and then update unit #1, disconnect.  Then modify unit #2 to a different MAC, and then you can choose if unit #3 stays stock or if you also make that different as well.  I would set all three so you know they are all unique.

Since the MAC addresses are all different, DHCP should then assign new and unique IPs to all three units.

With a MAC address collision your network did not know which switch port to send the traffic, and that's why it kept dropping.

TY Josh. I may have misled you. I have owned 3 HL2's, but only one is on the network.
I can't get it to stay on the network long enough to use any programs.

It connects - gets an IP from my DHCP router - runs for 10 - 15 seconds and then recycles but doesn't get a IP again.
I then have to re-power and restart.

I haven't heard from anyone else getting the just released hardware going...

Hi Jeff,

Can you try a different ethernet cable, and make sure the cable is securely plugged in at both ends? Is your network 100Mbs or 1000Mbs? Also, please visually inspect the soldering of the ethernet jack and ethernet components. The multiple MAC issue is the first thing that came to my mind too, but won't be an issue if you have just a single HL2 connected to your network at a time. If the problem persists, please contact me directly via e-mail and we can setup an exchange.

Makerfabs tests each board for more than 15 seconds, also I tested the KSZ9021 change extensively before production. I doubt that it is a systemic issue with the new build.

Jeffery: I got a new HL2 delivered Monday, it successfully gets an IP address via DHCP and is working fine in my network. Use it with SDRPlay, Thetis, HPSDR all of them find the HL2 right away.

Josh: The HL2 that i got out of the box is setup for DHCP and does not come with a fixed address. Perhaps  you have some other version of the firmware?

Steve,  Will the latest gateway on GitHub work with the new version?  I'll re-blast it to make sure it didn't get corrupted.

TY and glad your unit is working.  I am going to reload the firmware to see if that helps.  Got to be something simple.  Jeff

My new build HL2 gets an IP via DHCP and gets detected and works in SparkSDR, SDR Console and quisk.
Thetis does not detect it but works fine once I give it the IP and select to use static IP. I suspect Thetis could still be a pebkac issue.

If the HL2setup.exe is still currently used, that too does not detect the HL2.

This new build HL2 is my first and only one on the network.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Daniel

I think Steve may be on vacation off the grid.

As Steve said, the board was tested before it let the factory so it'd have be a really odd form of bit flip to have set in somewhere between the factory and your shack for it to be a gateware issue.

Can you say which LEDs are still on?  It's not clear what you mean by 'two outer LEDs'.

Hi Daniel,

Sometimes if you computer has more than one network interface, for example wired and wireless, some software may not correctly scan all interfaces for the HL2. I suspect that is what happens with HL2setup.exe as it is meant to be a very simple test program.

Have tried new ethernet cable, have reset my router to factory, and have a 1000 MBPS network.
Still no luck.
Here are a few images of the board - I do see a bridge between leads on the board - I assume that is ok.

Both radioberry and hpsdr rigs work on the network.

Steve,

The replacement board connected instantly to the network.

Thank you for the replacement!
