Hi All

My HL2 recently went deaf on RX. I opened it up and discovered that the wires from T1 had come off the little base that they were soldered to. On attempting to remove the very tiny toroid and windings it flew out of the tweezers to god knows where...its the same size as an 0402 resistor! My questions are

1. is it possible to buy a replacement from Makerfabs?
2. If not, does anyone have details of the core and winding details? I know from the schematic that it's an 81 transformer.

Thanks in Advance

There is some info in the schematic that suggests you can hand wind a core with 4 turns primary and secondary on a BN43-2402 core.

BN-43-2402 - Amidon

Hi Mike

Yes, I saw that. Maybe I’m using the wrong schematic, but the one I have shows T1 as a 1:8 transformer

Unless there were changes?

I used the 2020 era schematic for hl2 at this link:

T2 is an 8:1 in the rx  circuit from rf1.  T1 is 4:1 in the rf3 low power pa circuit.

You show a 2016 version which seems to have the 8:1 as T1.  I might think you are looking at an early version which has changed.

Hi Charlie,

The receiver uses T2 not T1. Is it T1 or T2 shich has open wires? Either can be wound on a standard core, and that is probably the easiest replacement option. See the old Hermes-Lite docs for winding instructions:

The main website also has a BOM link if you want to replace with the production part.
