Hello

Since august I have been using HL2 only in reception with SparkSDR without any problem. As i can remember, the D2 and D5 diodes were always ON.

Today I am facing the following situation:
- SparkSdr and/or IPscanner don't detect HL2 anymore.
- The 3 diodes D2, D3 and D4 are flashing and D5 is on .

However nothing has been changed in the local network.

I also tested with other coax cables, no improvement.

What can be done in such a situation?

Is there a way to do a reset of HL2 ?

Thank you for all your help.

Hi Andre,

Please try powering up the HL2 in factory reset mode:

If it connects via DHCP this way, please use Quisk, SparkSDR or hermeslite.py to make sure that no fixed IP is enabled.

There have been a handful of instances now where people have had a fixed IP enabled without intending to do so. I'm not sure what is causing it.

Hi Steve

First of all thank you for this information, I have tried this procedure and it works.

Still it would be interesting to know the exact cause of the problem.

I plan to place the receiver in the attic as close as possible to the antenna. In this configuration the described procedure is not very practical.

In any case a big thank you and I am pleased to see that the  ham spirit is not dead.

After using my unit for a while I had trouble connecting to it; it gets its address (always the same one) from my DHCP server.  The problem was related to ARP (address resolution protocol, which is how an IP address gets associated with an ethernet (MAC) address).  The problem went away when I added an explicit entry in my computer's ARP table with the Hermes' ethernet and IP addresses.

Hi Steve,
that is interesting, was the problem happening when connecting after powering up the computer? I've noticed arp can be slow on some computers and the discovery process does not trigger it, this results in the radio being discovered but not starting up on the first try, does this fit with what you saw or is this something else? What software were you using?
