How to enable virtual COM ports?

A question about the setup of Thetis: I plan to use digital softwares with Thetis and my HL2 like FreeDV, WSJT-X and JS8Call. I need to configure virtual COM ports and I have installed com0com to create these pairs. However I cannot set these COM ports in "Serial/Network/Midi/CAT screen, the 4 "Enable CATx" being greyed and the "Port" windows not allowing to enter the COM port number.

I guess I have missed a setting somewhere but my question is where? Where can I enable CAT?

Good morning,

The Thetis software has TCI built in.

If you use the TCI settings in Thetis you do not need special software for virtual audio or com ports.

Thetis, and the latest versions of JTDX, WSJTX WSJT-Z   have TCI support.

On the digital software, WSJT-X  etc, select  RX1- CLIENT for the radio type and for audio select use TCI for both input and output audio.

Thank you. Problem solved now with TCI settings for WSJT-X. Then I uninstalled com0com which did not provide working virtual com ports on my Windows 11 laptop and installed Virtual Serial Port Driver program which installed working virtual serial ports and all my prefered softwares (JS8Call, FreeDV and WSJT-X)are now working with Thetis using the virtual serial ports setting.

Virtual com ports are used for connecting two programs running on the same computer.
With most modern software this is not really necessary since they allow
CAT over TCP connections. Audio transport is an advantage of TCI, apart from
that, TCI offers basically the same functionality as CAT-over-TCP.
