gateware install problem

Hi all, 

 my new hermes lite 2 has appeared, Trying to install gateware with sparksdr, looks like its completing, doesnt seem to be installed, tryed different  a friend of mine has the same problem with his hermes unit from this batch, seems he cant change his mac address either. wondering if anyone else has had the same issues?

Hi,

you really should not need to reinstall gateware with a new radio.  The fact that SparkSDR talks to it indicates it already has gateware installed.  Is anything not working to make you think it needs gateware?

Hi,

well that is a good reason :)  Have you looked at the SparkSDR log files?  What gateware version is reported in spark after rebooting both spark and the radio?  If you have more than one HL2 it is best to only have one powered whilst programming or changing mac.

This issue is affecting me too. Trying to update the gateware results in a successful write but the unit boots the existing version. Also, trying to change the MAC address fails (SparkSDR crashes). I have three units from three different batches and this is the only one behaving this way. Instict tells me something is acting read only but it would be really useful to verify this. Maybe via hermeslite.py if somebody knows what to look for?

Have you done a cold reboot? The first gateware update requires a cold reboot. Subsequent updates can be done warm. See:

Hi All,

just to keep this and the spark group and private emails in sync. It appears the mac setting and probably ip address setting in recent versions of Spark is broken.  If you need to change these settings try much older versions.  As far as I know this is unconnected with the gateware update problem.

there is a SparkSDR version 2.0.25 here https://www.sparksdr.com/downloads that should fix the mac and ip settings buttons.
