Having gotten the HL2 basically working, I put my attention to controlling my ( homebrew, LDMOS ) linear.  The linear requires Yaesu band codes to change bands.  Otherwise, it defaults to 40M.

Dalton W5EIM provided me with code to do it.  I could have done it myself, but why reinvent the wheel?  Thanks, Dalton!

My linear uses an 8-pin "Foster" connector.  They're also called "Aviation" connectors.  I wired up an adapter cord from the DB9 on the back of the I/O card to the Foster.

The plated through holes that connect to that DB9 do not have a straightforward order;
I verified each one with my ohmmeter.

Then ran the program and verified the four Yaesu signals: A, B, C, & D.  Each one of them
has a unique pattern as you go up & down the bands.  Then connected each signal to its DB9 land with a short piece of 30-gauge wire wrap wire.

Powered it up - and it works perfectly.  The linear follows the HL2 from band to band like a puppy.

Good work, Jerry
I have got hold of a TOKYO HL-45B which is designed to work with the Yasu FT-817, is it possible for you to share the program software for the I/O board and  pin connectors for the amplifier.

A small update
I managed to get it working.
I used n2adr_basic which is suitable for Yasu FT-817.

Hi Martin

While researching auto band switching options between the HL-45B and HL2, I came across your successful implementation.

Could you kindly confirm whether this setup is all that’s required?

Do you need any software update as well?

Really appreciate your input on this.

Kind regards, Ras VK2QV

Hi, your wiring looks correct.
you need to make sure you have your I/O board installed correctly.
go to this website https://github.com/jimahlstrom/HL2IOBoard
download n2adr_basic and put this file on your rasberry pi: main.c

this is done without power on your hermes lite 2. when this is complete it should reboot itself and it should be ready.
in thetis software i will turn down your tuning power and the transmission effect, i think 1W is enough to get 45W from Tokyo Hy-Power HL-45B 5w is the limit
