I've got paddles connected to an external keyer which is then fed to the HL2 KEY/PTT jack via a splitter cable that also connects a PTT button. All of this works just fine. However, if I inadvertently bump one of the paddles while operating voice or data modes, the rig obliges and sends a string of dots or dashes. This tends to upset other folks who are involved in a net or ragchew, and they're not wrong. Especially the ones wearing headphones! Is there a setting(s) in Thetis (v2.10.13.3 beta) to disable this behavior? The rig doesn't actually switch into CW mode (or at least it's not reflected on the display) but the RF definitely hits the airwaves. I've tried several suggestions, including one from Richie but I've yet to find a solution.

I also use an HL2 with an external keyer.
To prevent accidental cw transmissions whilst operating other modes, it is only necessary to shut off the external keyer when doing so..

Subject: Re: CW sent if I bump my paddles while operating in SSB or digital modes
Mike, I can see how that could be very useful. My Yaesu HF rig has such a feature that can be enabled by a setting deep within the ghastly menu system. However, with the crowd I run in, mixing CW in with voice definitely doesn't seem to be appreciated! ;-)
