HL2 Startup is Slow to Transmit

I reliably have to wait for 10-20 minutes from turning on the HL2 along with  MW0LGE Thetis before I can transmit.  The receive works right away, but no power out on TX for many minutes.  PTT moves, everything looks normal, no power out.  Once it decides to start producing power, everything then works as long as the HL2 remains powered on.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

Thanks,  WR9R

First thing to try is connect HL2 to other software (SDR Console, SparkSDR, Quisk) and see if same issue? That way you can diagnose if it's a software or hardware issue, but sounds more like hardware issue at first glance.

Hi WR9R,

Is this a consistent problem with a consistent time-to-good? Or is there randomness? I'd check for the intermittent or poorly ground AD9866 as described on this wiki page:

I did resolve the problem... the AD9866 was marginal.  Replacing the chip fixed the issue.
Thanks for pointing out the bad ground -- it was not the issues but led to measuring various pins to see that there was no output at the 9866.

Hi WR9R,

I'm glad you were able to fix your issue! Sorry that the AD9866 was marginal on the unit you received.
