to Hermes-Lite
Hello everyone,
I am working on a remote setup for a hermes lite 2.  My shack is at home and the radio will be 50 miles away or so with the antenna located on a grain elevator 110 ft in the air.  I have a wireless internet link at my house and at the grin elevator with about 100mbps down and 25mbps up.  Both services are provided by the same provider so that helps with the latency.  doing a ping test the latency's range from 25ms to 60ms typically, but they do jump around some.  The system is tied together with a zerotier vpn if you call it that.

Currently if i transmit remotely with either a tune signal or a 2 tone signal i see some distortion on the thetis duplex view on the screen .  I have not tried to transmit voice at this point but in the past I have noticed with this type of distortion voice communication is not good.  I am able to transmit voice fine from any of my computers on the home network fine after changing some routers and switches to increase the home network quality.  ethernet connected computers are great and WIFI computers work well with a little bit of jitter problems.  Now I need to work on the latency across the vpn to make things work properly.

So this is where I think the wifi buffer will do the trick.  Someone please correct me if I am wrong.  From what I understand I want to get a raspberry pi with dual ethernet ports so tha the hl2 is being connected through the pi to the remote network.  By doing this and running the wifi buffer on the pi it will collect the data buffer it and then feed it along to the HL2 without jitter.  Am I correct in assuming this?

Now this being said I had another idea and please someone chime in and let me know if has been done or if it is possible.   Get something like a ubiquity nanobeam ac which could be capable of 5 miles distance they say.  The nanobeam also has a second ethernet port to connect the hermes lite directly to it.  Power it with a battery setup through the poe run the hl2 and pi wifi buffer off batteries and go put it up on a big hill within range with a decent antenna and run it 5 watts.

Are there any holes in my logic?  Anyone please shoot me down before i waste my time and money.
thanks
Scott
