HL2 - No power output

Hello everybody,

After having solved the receiver problem (sensitivity - but it was my fault because of antenna mismatch) I'm now trying to have the HL2 working on transmit with SDRConsole. 

However I'm not able to get any power output. Same with Thetis. 

the TX led goes on and I hear the relay click. PTT works fine with SDRC. tune button too.

When I look at the SDRC instrument pane I see in FM mode the power output shoot to aro. 7W and the IPA to 300mA (see screenshot). Unfortunately the power goes down to zero immediately after (you see in one of the screenshots the descending power). 

The ALC stays steady on 75%+ which is rather high. I've two Bird power meters, one on the ANT and the other on RF 1 to make sure to detect some RF on one of them. 

They both show no output at all. 

I've followed all available instructions given by Simon and others (activate PA, etc.)

but I'm stuck. 

Any suggestions ?

Hi Ezio,

You say tune button works too. Does that mean you see power output during tune?

The typical problems here are first to enable PA, which it sounds like you did. Second, make power output per band is set to the maximum. Programs like Thetis have a tab for this. Third, make sure your filters are set correctly so that they are not attenuating your power. Finally, make sure your audio setup is setup correctly to provide signal to the HL2. It is simpler to first test with CW (connect a straight key to the jack) or tune to avoid audio issues.

The programs I am most familiar with are Quisk and SparkSDR. I suggest you try with those too. Report only for tune or CW straight key input.

Many thanks for your message. 

I managed to have the HL2 working with Thetis and it gives very good results. Everything works fine and I can make fine audio and power adjustments.

QSO reports are very good. Excellent audio with a professional USB mic.

SDRConsole is however still not working. I've tried all possible setups with no avail. PA is enabled, the PTT switch is ok but after an initial attempt to output the

power the HL2 remains dead. I'm convinced it's an ALC problem but I am not able to  solve it.

I'm going to ask Simon on the SDR-Radio.com group. Perhaps he'll be able to help.
