I now have SparkSDR, WSJT-X, and fldig all speaking to each other and working properly.
I've made 30 FT8 contacts and have had a few PSK31 and CW QSO's.

I am almost there with HPSDR.  I'm using a VAC connection and can see the signals in the trace screen of WSJT-X.

I've configured a pair of vitual comm ports, COM14 and COM15, and have them entered in the HPSDR setup screen for CAT control.

I'm using COM14 for the CAT control port and COM15 for the PTT port.   I've checked both RTS and CTS boxes for PTT control.  Whenever I check the PTT box, the Hermes goes into transmit, but will not go back into receive unless I uncheck the PTT box.

What have I missed?

Thanks,

Karl - W5QJ

Hi Karl,

You may have set RTS active when you created the virtual cable, I think that is the default in VSPE, and you would need to uncheck the RTS box when creating the cable you are using for PTT.

Hello Mike,

Thank you. I used commocomm to create the ports and can't see what RTS/CTS has been set at.  If I uncheck RTS and CTS in the HPSDR CAT setup screen, the comport box becomes grayed out. I'll delete the virtual comports created with commocomm, reboot, create new ones with VSPE, and then try again.

Hi Karl,
If you created COM14 / COM15 pair, then after setting COM14 port in HPSDR "other opposite end of cable",  COM 15 should be set in WSJT-X. In WSJT-X, check PTT via CAT.

Joe,

Thank you again for your help.  I followed the configuration shown in the two screen caps you sent.  I got going after I deleted the first pair of virtual comports I created and then used a different application to create a second pair.  I'm up and running on WSJT-X.

Karl,
You are welcome.
Yes of course you can use COM port for PTT (instead of PTT via CAT) for example RTS. But then you need a second pair of virtual COM ports.
One pair to CAT, the other pair to PTT. Total 4 COM ports.
One of the many software for generating virtual ports is com0com. Works fine and stable.
