This is the third beta release, v2.10.3.5-HL2 of Thetis for HL2.

This release is not for the faint-hearted, as there has been many changes to bring the HL2 code base in line with the official repository. This may mean a reset of the database or even a complete rebuild of the setup. You may need to use the Ctrl key at startup to reset things. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

This release should work with other Anan series radios but will use the database stored in Thetis-HL2-x64 directory in the user data area.

Even though the release number is v2.10.3.5, it does include changes from the official code base for v2.10.3.6 which is currently in development.

It would be helpful if users could test this release and report bugs in Github, as this will probably be the same code that will appear in the next official Thetis release with HL2 support.

This isn't a proper install but a zip of an installation and can be placed in a different directory (I use C:\OpenHPSDR) so should allow the original release to still be used. Then just run Thetis.exe within your new directory.

If you haven't already done so, you first need to install the latest release of Thetis (x86 or x64 version) as it sets up things like skins and support for the new meter functionality. The link is

Details of the release can be found in the release notes accessible via the Thetis Setup panel.

This release may require a reset of the database.

No warranty or guarantee, use at your own risk. It should use its own database but do a backup of your current Thetis one just in case.

Cheers

3.5 beta 3 trips Microsoft Defender antivirus concerning the wdsp.dll.  This hasn't happened to me before on previous releases.

Everything OK? False positive?

No problem here, Win11 + Defender, latest updates.  Running 2 instances of Beta3 in parallel, one continuously on 6M WSJT-X via a transverter, the other on and off the HF bands with the 10Rx HL2. No database reset from Beta 2 required so far.

Hi Reid,

I have tried this newest version, but it just doesn't start. I double click thetis.exe and nothing happens. When I went back to version beta 2, it also didn't work any more.
The only thing I got it working again is just reverting my entire windows to a restore point I created before I did the upgrade.
After that, I tried again, put the beta 3 in a separate subdirectory, but it didn't work.
Luckily this time it didn't mess up beta 2.
Am I the only one on planet earth with this issue?

PS. If needed, I can always give you access to my computer remotely to check it out. Send me a PM finding my mail address on QRZ.com
Kind regards.

Hi Kurt

Did you try launching Beta 3 while holding the Ctrl Key ?
If so and that didn't work try launching with a complete new data base.
BACKUP YOUR WORKING DATABASE FIRST !

I had a similar issue with an earlier release, Thetis would crash then not open any version. If I restored the database it would open again but the new version (v2.10.3.5 Beta1) still crashed and I had to start again.
In the end I did a complete new data base and since then all updates have been fine.

Hi Paul,

Ctrl and starting Thetis.exe didn't work. I also renamed the folder C:\Users\kurt\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR so it should be free from any database issues, but unfortunately, none of these helped me to start beta 3. I just check in the windows event viewer and I also don't see anything there.
It feels like the exe file crashes. I tried to run it in administration mode, no success.
I tried to delete beta 3 again, unzip again, no success.
Fortunately, beta 2 still works. Seems very weird.

Any idea's?

Hi Kurt,

You definitely have the latest version of the main Thetis program installed? i.e.

https://github.com/ramdor/Thetis/releases/tag/v2.10.3.5

You installed your HL2 v2.10.3.5 beta in c:\ OpenHPSDR?

I ask because the v2.10.3.5 beta database will only be in C:\Users\kurt\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR if you installed the beta into C:\ OpenHPSDR in the first place.

I tend to unzip a beta into a new folder named with the new beta version number etc. That way I can keep track of where the appropriate database goes in AppData\Roaming

Good luck.

Hi Kurt

If the exe was crashing I would expect something in the event log.
If a new database didn't work then I am out of idea's for now.

Hi Kurt,

This sounds like your virus software is not allowing it to run. I would try it again with any virus software turned off and, if it runs, put it in as an exception in the protection software database.

Cheers

Hi Reid,

I tried it, no virus software running, but no success.
I installed it in a new folder. But unsuccessful
It is  not critical as it is a beta. I wonder if the issue will persist with the succesive versions.

Very weird.

If you have any idea's let me know.

FYI. 3.5 Beta-3 is working well for me.  The virus alert must have been a false positive.  I updated the MS definitions, checked again and all OK.

Funnily, I had the same issue today and it was down to another Thetis running zombie in the back ground. I found it with Task Manger and used the End Task option.

I'm not sure if a zombie Thetis would allow one of the other betas to run but check if you have the same issue.

Cheers

Norton always flags around 10 files and quarantines them. I just restore them and all is fine. Flags due to lack of reputation.
