All:

I am planning on using Jim Veatch's MRF101AN Eval Board along with the T/R Switch and LPF Board for a standalone setup for my HL2. I have the I/O Boad for the HL2, and wondering if anyone has worked with interfacing the I/O Board to the 7 Band LPF Board using BCD?

If there has been any progress along these lines, I would like to hear from you.

Hi Rich,

I'm in the process of finishing a half kitset half homebrew amp using Jim's eval board, filter board and TR/SWR board. My approach was to design a controller board to control all functions of the amp, such as band switching and monitoring temps,  volts and current etc. This is based on a 8 bit AVR (ATmega4808) and it speaks to the PC via USB serial. I'm hoping to add direct CAT control for band switching, failing that I'll use a python script to sit between Thetis and my amp control board.

I don't have an IO board, but that could possibly substitute for a amp control board. Having a amp control board is handy though because I can do stuff like overcurrent protection, SWR protection. thermal protection etc.

Cheers,

Hi Mike:

Thanks for sending over this information. I just reviewed the code, and I think I can modify it for my needs. I have a spare LPF Board with the BCD Decoder and Relays here (No LPF Components Populated), I think I can use this to test the modifications I need to make.  I will be also using HR-500, which tomorrow I will review those notes to make sure I do not have a pin conflict.

I and others have custom firmware that puts out BCD. In my case I use it for VHF bands 6M and higher to control transverters.  It is easy, you can modify the example I linked to how you need it.   I also force the Aux RF on for split IF.

K7MDL2/HL2_IO_BOARD_BCD: BCD and PTT outputs for the HL2 IO board designed by N2ADR. VHF band focused, modify to suit your needs.

Hi Tim and all

Tim, I'm likewise using the 100w eval board from Jim as well as the TR switch and the 7 band filter. I've gone down the route of using the S21RC SSPA version 2.x lite controller - somewhat modified. The main processor is an Arduino nano so
modifying the code for my use is relatively simple. The project has a Nextion 3.5" touch screen. Hopefully I'll have it up and running soon :)
