I have been running Thetis Beta 4 just fine for many months. At about the same time that Beta 4 expired, Beta 5 came out. Also at the same time my system decided to upgrade to 21H1. After that, I cannot get any audio out of Thetis. Using MME and Sound Mapper on VAC1.

Wondering if it was a Beta 5 issue, I changed the date to 7/24/2021 and ran Beta 4. No audio there also. Ran the unmodified Thetis and it also shows no audio.

I also reset the DB and that had no audio as well.

I opened the volume mixer. I note that when I run SDR-Console, it shows the application in the mixer and it works just fine. Thetis does not show up at all as an application in the volume mixer.

Are there any logs I can look at to see if there are any errors being generated?

I am suspecting a 21H1 anomaly. I see no audio issues relating to this.

The sound driver is the microsoft high definition audio device. Timestamp is 05/09/2020

Been running Thetis HL2 Beta 5 and 21H1 and all is well, MME/Soundmapper in use here on VAC 1.  Thetis also appears in the Volume Mixer with a slider.

Running WSJT-X on RX2 with VAC2 mapped to VAC cables.

I am currently waiting for the arrival of my HL2 from Makersfab. During this time I have set various software (Quisk, SDR Console and Thetis v.2.8.11) to study and setup them.
It seems HL2 is not implemented in Thetis v.2.8.11, which has only Hermes. From this group I found that Thetis beta versions include now HL2 but they are only beta versions and last for only 90 days.
Does a next stable version will include HL2 and when should it be delivered?

Hi Pierre,

The official Thetis source base and releases has no concept of the HL2. I have forked the official source and updated it to better support the Hermes Lite, that is were the Betas come from.

I did email the official Thetis team to see if my changes could be put back in their source tree but never heard back from them. I suspect that they have enough of an issue supporting all the different variants without another one thrown into the ring.

The betas last 90 days and I try to add new features before the next required release period. At some stage it will become a stable release and the time restriction will be removed.

Cheers

Reid

Thanks Reid. It's clear now, I shall use your beta versions and set a new one each time you provide one. Anyway Hamradio is by definition the pleasure to experiment.

Hi Reid, Could you in a coming beta version add a "Thailand" region to the "Setup" "H/W Select" "Region" menu. This region has a special 80M band (3.5 to 3.6), 60M is forbidden, 80M is (7.0 to 7.2), 6M is forbidden and 2M is (144 to 147).

Hi Reid, I guess I could myself directly edit the "Band Text" values in C:\Users\MySelf\AppData\Roaming\OpenHPSDR\Thetis-HL2\database.xml?
I guess I could write the Thai Hambands or any other Region HamBands and even set TX to true for them and false outside of them?
This would solve a problem for which I am searching a solution as Thai authorities are quite strict about out of band transmission capable transceivers.

Hi Pierre,

I was going to point you to the database, just make sure you make a backup or keep a "cut and paste" of the modified section in another file.

Cheers

Hi Reed,
I edited the database.xml and could set the bandedges I wanted to set them.
I still have a problem : this did not move the vertical red lines which mark the band edges, they are still at the same position where they were before the edition. Where are set these lines in the database.xml, what could I edit to move them to the right position?

Hi Pierre,

I had a quick look at the code and the red line band edge markers for hardcoded for each region.

Hi Reid,
Can you write the full address of the web page to find and study the code of Thetis, probably a Github link but there are many links related to Thetis and I would be happy to find the good one with all the source code of this nice SDR software.

Hi Pierre,

The modified source is at https://github.com/mi0bot/OpenHPSDR-Thetis. If you search for FRSRegion in the source, you will get an idea for what code needs to be modified to add a region. If you want to made the mod's, I can put it into the next release.

Thanks Reid but I did not find. Where should I search in the Source directory, which has 7 sub-directories?

Hi Pierre,

You need to install Visual Studio to make sense of the directory structure and browse the source. That will allow you to make global searches in all files for particular variables.

Hi Reed,
Thanks again,
I'm discovering Visual Studio Code and could search for FRSRegion files in the source code of Thetis-2.8.12 beta5. and found many lines of code about various regions and countries. Not an easy task to understand how to fully introduce the Thailand band plan there!

Reid,

I've given Beta 5 a thorough workout and other than the RF power calibration issue previously discussed, the only other oddity I've come across is not being able to use the keyboard space bar to place the HL2 into transmit.  The box is ticked for PTT/MOX control in "Keyboard".  The MOX button works fine though.  I usually do not operate phone, but am pleased with how well Thetis works in that mode.  Thanks for the great work in porting the app to the HL2.

Hi Karl,

Thanks for the feedback and the next release should have the calibration
issue fixed.

As for the space bar, have you ticked
Setup|General|Options|Options-1|Keyboard|Enable Shortcuts?

Cheers

I have this issue too. Has it been resolved, is there a workaround.

Newer versions seemed to work. Not sure why.
