***** High Performance Software Defined Radio Discussion List *****

At HAM RADIO 2018 in Friedrichshafen I gave a presentation at the HPSDR
Academy on some new Linux software for HPSDR compatible radios called
linHPSDR.  Please note that this is not PowerSDR running on Linux but a
completely new Linux application.

The Beta release of this software is now available on GitHub at
https://github.com/g0orx/linhpsdr. The README.md details the
prerequisites and how to build the software.  It has been built and
tested using Ubuntu 17.10 and 18.04.

The major features of the software are:

   Linux specific software
Uses WDSP ported to Linux for the DSP library
Supports both Protocol 1 and Protocol 2
Supports up to 7 receivers depending on the radio
   Supports 1 transmitter
Uses PortAudio for local audio input/output at the computer
CAT interface over TCP/IP for each receiver
Easy interface to WSJT-X without using a sound card or cables
(WSJT-X.odt and .pdf) on github
Can be interfaced to other applications using rigctl built with
Hamlib 3.2.

Current development:

Improved documentation (there is an early document linhpsdr-user.odt
and .pdf) on github
   PureSignal
   Diversity
   Remote thin client

Remember this is a Beta release so there will still be some bugs in the
code and missing features.

Hi Rob,
I heard about this a few months ago and wondered if/when we would get
hands on it.

Currently tested on openSUSE Tumbleweed x86_64 and Ubuntu 16.04 ARM
running on ODROID-C2 with HL2 and Odyssey-2.

Thanks for that Rob. I have loaded it up on Linux Mint and tested all the basic functionality and it is working 100% for me. I have not tried any remote functionality or any filter switching. I have tested this on an HL1 and the LNA gain works with this radio and no fudging with dither etc. is necessary.

I have it up on my Mint 18.3.  Followed the pdf for WSJT-x in the linuxhpsdr and its working.  I used the same OC setup for Jims filter bank that I used in SparkSDR and at first blush seems right but havent tried transmitting yet.  Anyone tried transmitting with linuxhpsdr on their HL2 yet?  Are there any gotchas?

Hi Jack,

What port did you use for wsjtx?  I tried 50000, because I saw something about that in the messages spewed out on the terminal, but it didn't work for on Ubuntu 18.04.  It would be interesting to have separate receivers connected to different instances of wsjtx.  They would need separate ports.

Thanks & 73,

Rob

Rob,

I followed Joh's guidance in the WSJT-X.odt document in the git as follows:

"CAT inteface;

Currently linHPSDR has sufficient CAT commands implemented to allow WSJT-X to interface to it.  It only works with RX-0 currently.

To configure WSJT-X to use the CAT interface select the Radio tab in the File→Settings dialog.  Select OpenHPSDR PiHPSDR as the Rig and set the Network Server to localhost:19090 and set the PTT Method to CAT.

When connected the CAT logo should be illumintaed in RX-0. "

Hope that helps
