I was recently experimenting with HL2 on the Apple M1 ARM computer.
Inspired by KS4JU experience
I installed the windows 10 preview, and the Parallels 16 beta software, both free,  on my MacMini M1 with 4 GB RAM..
Results are very impressive:
1. SDR Console works very well with the RX/TX.   CPU load=5% as per the Simon's program. The Windows Task Manager reports CPU load=12%.
2.Thetis 2.8.12 Beta1 02/25/21. Also works well.  CPU load=21% as per the program, and 26% as per Windows Task Manager.
3. PowerSDR 3.5.0  3/12/21 just released, thanks Reid.  CPU load=16%, Task Manager=20%, sample rate=38400

The only mystery was that I had to use the 32 bit version of the above SDR  programs  to install on the Windows 10 64 bit preview. Still experimental!
I tried to install the ICOM USB drivers for IC-705 for more experimentation but no luck, I got the fatal error -1603 message.

Hi Ted,

That is very impressive. I think the M1 (and other similar performance consumer ARM processors that will soon follow) are a real game changer.

The game changer for SDR code on ARM happened several years ago.  Many iOS app binaries can run unmodified on M1 Macs, and run only around 2X faster (in single-core DSP Mflops) than on a 3+ year old iPhone or iPad.  I've been experimenting with iPhones for high performance DSP for nearly a decade.  I plan trying to use just an iPhone app plus an ethernet dongle for HL2 portable ops (POTA/SOTA).
