Hello everyone,

I’ve released Thetis PY2ECM v2.10.3.16 Beta 2, an experimental Windows x64 build for Hermes Lite 2 / HL2+. It is based on the final MI0BOT Thetis HL2 v2.10.3.15 release. This is my modified edition, not an official MI0BOT or upstream Thetis release. Many thanks to MI0BOT and all the earlier Thetis/OpenHPSDR contributors.

New in Beta 2:

  • 3D Pan and 3D Panafall in the display-mode selector. They show perspective spectrum history with a detailed live panadapter trace in front. The 3D view also works during TX and RX2 split TX.
  • Separate FPS settings for the 2D and 3D displays.
  • NR5 and NR6 choices in Appearance > Meters/Gadgets > Other Buttons for button-box layouts.
  • Independent Active Peak and Data Line color/transparency settings for each 3D mode. If an option is not enabled, it follows the normal panadapter setting.

Features carried forward from Beta 1:

  • WDSP 2.10, including NR5 (NNR Standard) and NR6 (NNR Premium), with an NNR configuration tab beside NR/ANF.
  • CAT and MIDI2CAT support for NR5/NR6. CAT commands ZZNE and ZZNF control RX1 and RX2 noise reduction respectively; values 0–6 select Off or NR1–NR6.
  • PureSignal 3.0 integration and corrected automatic Hermes Lite 2 feedback attenuation.
  • Individual PA Gain settings for 25, 22, 19, 16, 14, 13 and 11 meters. Around 27 MHz, the 11 m PA Gain can be used instead of the 10 m value.
  • NR selection, AGC and ANF state remembered separately by operating mode.
  • Temporary RX1/RX2 audio mute during HL2 DIGU/DIGL transmission, with the previous levels restored on RX. AGC Gain is not changed.
  • Fixes developed during WDSP 2.10 testing for FFT wisdom, NNR navigation, PureSignal and the window title.

The release provides an x64 MSI, a portable ZIP and SHA-256 checksums. The MSI creates shortcuts for the default database and -dbid:HL2; the portable Beta 2 launcher uses a separate PY2ECM-WDSP210-BETA2 database. It requires Windows x64 and .NET Framework 4.8.

Please back up your databases, profiles, calibrations and launch scripts before testing. Before transmitting, check PA Gain, Drive, attenuation, RF output power, ALC and PureSignal at low power into a suitable load. NR6 and the 3D modes can increase system load; results will depend on your PC, audio driver and settings. This is experimental software supplied without warranty, and use and transmission are at your own risk. Beta 2 expires on 30 December 2026 (UTC); expiration does not delete databases.

Feedback and reproducible bug reports are welcome, especially from other HL2/HL2+ configurations. Special thanks to Luis Antonio Villas Boas, PY5VB, for HL2+ testing.

Eric, PY2ECM
