I have used the HL2 a lot with CW.
Normally my paddle is connected to the computer and the CW signal is shaped in the host software
(piHPSDR in my case). Then the keyer can produce a nice sidetone.
But you can also use an external keyer and connect its PTT-out and KEY-out
signals to the 3.5mm TRS KEY/PTT jack.

If you use this device as a sound card at your host computer, a nice low-latencey
side tone is mixed into the RX audio.
