Hi Group

Happy Christmas to everyone, and my first post here despite having found the information here to be invaluable when setting up my HL2.

I have had my HL2 for a couple of months and worked through various configurations finally deciding on Win10/Thetis(MI0BOT Version 2.8.12 Version) which is running FB on a Microsoft Surface Pro.  I had some head scratching moments trying to get the TX to work properly with the filter combinations but it seems to be working well now.

I now want to dive into the world of PureSignal and have a question regarding the use of an RF Tap/Attenuator that I already have in the shack.  I use my HL2 with a small linear amplifier from China an MX-P50M which works great and develops around 45-50 watts depending on the band.  My RF Tap is is rated at 500W -50DB which way more than I need for this setup.  Simple question really, will it "over attenuate" and not deliver enough RF in order for PS to work properly? I am nor entirely sure what level of RF is needed to be injected in order to get PS to work reliably so would be hugely grateful for any advice or guidance from this group please.

Many thanks and 73

There is a very wide range of attenuation possible, if
the software is set up correctly. The reason is, that
there is a preamp/attenuator in the RF frontend which
is programmable from -12 up to +48 dB and this range
can then be used to „match“ the feedback signal.

I should say feed about -20 dBm to the RF3 input
and this should be OK. I have used a -60dB attenuator
with success for powers about 70 Watt.

Have a look at: https://dl1ycf.darc.de/hl2.htm

Thank you for the response the info you directed me to is very interesting.  Actually another question if you don't mind, I have a remote tuner at the feedpoint of my antenna and the control unit is connected after my linear amplifier the connections are as follows:

Hermes-Lite --> MX-P50 Amplifier --> MFJ SWR Meter --> LDG RC-100 ATU Controller --> Antenna

Could you tell me where to connect the RF Tap/Attenuator in this setup please?

Between amplifier and mfj swr meter.
If you used same resistor values in RF3 attenuator circuit as per wiki, then you will need at least 0 dBm or 1mW input into RF3 for PS to work. Also make sure to change SetPk value to 0.24 in Puresignal window in Powersdr or it will not work.

I got it working!

Well it says that it is receiving feedback and correcting is green at the bottom of my panadapter so it looks good!  Just one question, when I try to monitor my audio (via the MON button) the audio is very distorted is this something to do with the adaptive predistortion algorithm?

Does it sound distorted when you turn PS on ?
It could be your audio processing settings.
