All,
My first time posting to the group so this may be a bit long. I have been following for a very long time and have a 16 bit Hermes board that I built from a bare board years ago and recently acquired a Hermes lite from a friend. I have been using thetis and power sdr for years but really wanted to get on to Linux. I have run Linux mint on a laptop for several years but I am definitely not a hardcore user by any means. I have the latest Linux mint on my home desktop now and really like it. Got Quisk installed and use it with my Peaberry transceiver a lot and don't really have any complaints except for fixed audio transmit bandwidth other than that it just plain works great all of the time. I use Quisk on SSB and digital with my 500 watt amp.
On to my questions hopefully someone can help. I have installed Linhpsdr. I got it working ok with Hermes and Hermes lite but there are some problems. I tried it on SSB and got a decent audio reports except being told that I had no highs like I was off frequency but that could be my mic setup and I had no EQ running which is necessary for this mic.
The major issue I have is I cannot get any decent audio out on digital. I am running FLDIGI which works perfectly with Quisk and the peaberry. With Linhpsdr and Hermes PSK31 everything looks ok on transmit and via the amp I was putting out 40 watts but nobody could hear me. I used my other SDR on a laptop with FLDIGI running and tried to decode my own PSK31 signal being transmitted by FLDIGI/Linhpsdr and could not. It just seemed garbled. Did not look over driven or splattering on the other receiver but it did not look right. I cannot get any clean audio out on digital and cannot decode my own PSK31 signal being output from Linhpsdr. Anyone have this issue or have any suggestions? I really want to use Linhpsdr with both hermes but this is a no go with the digital modes.
Other question with regaurds to software is m5evt fork. I am running the lastest version of linhpsdr (looks like it has not been updated in awhile) from g0orx and thought maybe I should try the m5evt fork. Looks like a lot of nice features were/are being added and its good to know that linhpsdr is being worked on as I really like the user interface better than thetis and want to stay on linux. I just don't know how to completely clear out linhpsdr before installing the fork and don't know if it will work with my 16 bit hermes as well as hermes lite.
I know this is a lot of questions so hopefully someone can help. Been at this for couple of weeks now and I am stuck. Thank you for reading my rambling.
