I recently purchased the Hermes lite 2 with the N2ADR and the I/O board as well as the case of course. I was a little disappointed to see that the top case had a huge scratch in it as well as wear marks on the edges and then the RJ45 receptacle does not fit through the faceplate cutout. I have been dealing with Makerfabs and they said the cases are easily scratched and well within their standard and most people in the diy community understand and put up with it and as far as the mismatched sizes they are wanting me to see if I can modify it.  I have since gone ahead with the build and once I assembled all and plugged it in it has a terrible amount of noise on the waterfall that I cannot adjust out and ADC0 overload stays on no matter what I try. I have used several different softwares besides Thetis and the problem seems to follow the hardware so I am not sure that it is a software setting.  Any advise would be helpful

IIRC, I also had to de-burr the HL2 faceplate opening with a nail file to get the RJ45 jack to fit through.  It was a snug fit.

To help isolate a receive noise issue, try testing with only a dummy load connected to the antenna port. Also try turning the RF gain down to the minimum (with max attenuation).

My hl2 cabinet came scratched too, but the radio has been really good. With Thetis or Aether, I would say it’s the best bang for the buck in ham radio.

Hang in there, there’s a learning curve to this radio but it’s a wonderful addition to a shack.

Now, some would say you still need a computer, Thats true but most people have one or two someone on the house.

You actually don't need a computer (or at least something that looks like a desktop, laptop, or Raspberry Pi) to use an HL2.  You can operate an HL2 from a mobile phone or tablet.  (disclaimer: I sell an iPhone app that works with the HL2).  73, Ron, N6YWU

Hi Jerry,

The ADC overload usually means your LNA gain is set too high. If you are using Thetis, please follow the videos found on You Tube for proper setup. The attenuation should be set at 0 and the model should be Hermes-Lite. If you are still experiencing problems, please try other software like Quisk or Spark SDR to confirm if it is a hardware issue or software setup issue.

Regarding the scratches, can you please post a picture? Also, do you think the scratches occurred during shipping or existed when sent by Makerfabs?
