Having received the Hermes Lite 2 on 1st April, I'm still struggling with the set-up and could really use some help.

The Hardware:-
Hermes Lite 2, Dell Optiplex 755 desktop PC running Windows 7pro, Raspberry Pi 4 8Gb running latest RPi OS release, 1Gbps wired network throughout.

The Software:-
On the PC:-  SDR Console v3, SparkSDR v2.0.5.1, WSJTX v2.3.1, VB-Virtual Audio
on the RPi:-  SparkSDR (arm) v2.0.5.1, WSJTX v2.3.0
Hermes Lite IP address 192.168.1.237
WSJTX CAT settings used are  rig = Hamlib NET rigctl, Network Server = 192.168.1.237:51111 ( the port number was taken from a post in this group)

The Problems:-
On the PC:-  SparkSDR sees the HL2 is available but doesn't connect ( firewall settings appear ok )
WSJTX refuses CAT control of the HL2 with an Error report from WSJTX:-

Rig Failure
Hamlib error:IO error
network_open:failed to connect to 192.168.1.237:51111
network.c(276):network_open return(-6)
rig.c(758):rig_open return(-6) while opening connection to rig

no idea what that means.

On the RPi, I don't get the 'Rig failure' error, but WSJTX Cat using the above settings still doesn't work.

All ideas welcome, Thankyou Mike W, G8NXD

Hi Mike,
for the cat control you should use the ip or computer name of the computer running spark, not the hermes lite.  The cat control will also not work until you have the radio running, preferably using the digiu mode.  The radio being discovered but not running is typically a networking issue, there is a troubleshooting page here Troubleshoot Network · softerhardware/Hermes-Lite2 Wiki (github.com) . Make sure you are running the 32 bit version of spark if you are using windows 7, the 64 bit version uses windows comms features not available on windows 7.

Thankyou for the prompt reply Alan,
I've tried installing 32bit SDR Console on Win7 pc, refused with "not
compatible with win7 64bit" error report.

Thankyou Alan, all sorted now, after a few senior moments.
