Hi Reid,
You might be able to help me understand a "feature" of Thetis V2.9.0.6 -HL2.
I see the "ADC1 Overload!" warning on the WWV frequencies,
2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25MHz,
The warning disappears +/- 1Hz from these frequencies.
There is no ADC1 warning when I use Thetis 2.8.1.2, Perhaps there is a setting that I have missed.?
Should I be worried?
Regards
Keith

Hi Keith,

I just observed the same effect if I don't use the Auto Attenuator feature. Have you switched the auto att on? Check the Setup/Options/Options-1/Hermes Lite Step Attenuator/Auto Att option.

It seems that the spot WWV frequencies have different save options for the attenuator than the broadcast bands around them.

I hope that works for you.

Cheers

Reid

Thank you Reid,
Unfortunately the items under "Hermes Step Attenuator" is greyed out and and the words "adc linked" in red is displayed between the two tick boxes.
Should these be unlinked somehow?

Hi Keith,

You are using the Thetis modified to work with the HL2? Are you able to select Hermes Lite in the Setup/General/HW Select?

Hi Keith,

It looks like you are using the official Thetis 2.9.0.6. You need to use the 2.9.0.6-HL2 version detailed in the information reposted below. I have been testing it now since its release and haven't found any major problems.

This is a beta release of v2.9.0.6-HL2 of Thetis for HL2.

This has only had limited testing and there will probably be issues with missing skins or database resets and the like. Only install this release if you are comfortable with fixing things.

It isn't a proper install but a zip of an install and can be placed in an different directory (I use C:\OpenHPSDR) so should allow the original release to still be used. Then just run Thetis.exe within your new directory.

If you haven't already done so, you first need to install the latest release of Thetis (x86 or x64 version) as it sets up things like skins. The link is
https://github.com/ramdor/Thetis-2.9.0/releases/tag/v2.9.0.6

Please read the release instructions associated with the above release as there has been updates to the skins which will affect some controls.

This release may require a reset of the database.

No warranty or guarantee, use at your own risk. It should use it's own database but do a backup of your current Thetis one just in case.

Cheers

Thanks Reid,
You might be onto it.   The HW Select just has the name HERMES and eight ANAN models.
I realise that there was a radio with the HERMES label, but assumed that in this case it stood for the HL2.
I'll have a look for one that has a Hermes Lite in the list.   Thanks for the question.

I have starting running the 2.9.0.6 x64 build for HL2.  On first run I did not have to reset the database, I just went through and maybe clicked a few items to make sure it was all correct for the HL2.   Figuring it looked mostly as I expected, I left it as is.

On switching to and from FM there is a long delay, the spectrum stops for several seconds with the cursor showing as an hourglass, it finishes the mode switch, then the Power button turns off, sometimes the program also exits.  This is pretty repeatable.

It has also crashed a few times when I was not looking, no changes, idle machine and crashed twice so far while in conversations on 2M SSB (via transverter).  Turning the power back on the program picks up where it left off with the new mode.

Tonight I exported the DB and reset the DB to see if that impacted anything.  Now switching modes the spectrum is only about 1 second and the power button stays on.  Too early to tell if the TX crashes are related.

For me experience suggests it is a good idea to *always* reset the database during an upgrade.   I have had to do so in past upgrades so not surprised.  There are things lurking in there beyond immediate view 😊.

There is audio rate changes when going to FM which causes the delay. I have seen this mentioned on the Thetis forum.

I think you're correct that a database reset is mandatary as there have been too many changes under the covers. Thanks for providing feedback.

I am unable to connect with my HL2 with the Beta 1.  When I click the power button I get a network error message "Error starting SDR HW, is it connected and powered on?".  V2.9.0.6 works find.  Set the network settings to same as V2.9.0.6.  Reuse IP,
Network Watchdog, Auto Detect Protocol clicked. Tried static IP with address reported by V2.9.0.6.  Same error.  Ran Firewall Check - said it was configured correctly.

HL2 is on my local network.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bruce

Don’t have the answer but have you reset the database?  I had modified the setup to where everything looked correct but had issues, then reset and checked the setup boxes over again, and it worked fine.

How do you reset the database?

Thanks,

Did the database reset and had the same error message.

Thanks for the suggestion Mike.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Just tried your latest Thetis HL2, Reid, and all working great. I was using v2.9.0.6 MW0LGE version and the rx ATTenuator was not behaving, but yours is fine.
The only issue I have with both versions is when going to ssb after having had a cw qso. The MIC input disappears, no audio showng in the VOX bar. I close and restart the software and its back working. Slightly irritating.

Has anyone else found this behaviour?
I'm on Win10, using the X64 version.

Hi Rich,

I can confirm that I'm seeing the same issue. If it's in both the MW0LGE
version and my beta, then it must be something fundamental in the code
base and not related to the HL2 updates.

Anyone else found a work around that might point to where things are
failing?
