The fifteen days of Mahalaya Paksha consists of 15 Tithi The last day of this period, the new moon day, called mahalaya amavasya, is considered as the most important day in the year for performing obsequies and rites. Thilatharpanapuri alias Sethalapathy is a holy place situated in Tamil nadu near Kumbakonam. This place is situated on the bank of river Arasalar where Lord Rama performed ceremony to his loving father Dasaradha. This happed while Rama journey in search of Seetha who was captured and taken away by Ravana. This is the one of the Padalstalam. More no of people come to this place and do the tharpana in this temple. Facilities are available in this temple to do the rituals.
