Val,
Are you OK?
Lill
Dear Lill
Yes the flood doesn't get into Orbost as we are on a hill. The flats were covered in water though. Quite a big flood but not as big as when I was a kid. Pre Snowy River Scheme days. Heaps of rain, really sick of it. The shearer was going to come last Tuesday and it has been raining ever since but it has stopped this afternoon
Regards
Val

Val,
Are you OK?
Lill
Good to hear you are OK. I knew you wee on a hill, but I wasn’t sure just how high the hill was. We have had close to 100mm this week. We’re sick of it too. Soggy goats!!!
G’Day Jackie,
Sorry to let this slip.
My goats love apples too, although it takes a while for the little ones to work out that they are edible.
Depending on the weather the goats can dry out very quickly, or they may stay damp. The wind here over the past few days has helped ours dry. As you only have a few goats, you may be able to lay the fleece out flat somewhere inside for a few days just to make sure it’s dry, before you pack it. I’d go with the shearing on Sunday unless there is a downpour.
The weekend of the 17th is fine if you’d like to pick Toby up. You can see the end result of the work that’s been done here. We are at church Sunday morning, but any other time will suit.
I went to the Berwick Show a few weekends ago and saw lots of Angoras with South African breeding. The fleece is really quite different. It’s shinier, greasier and more uniform over the animal. I don’t think it’s as soft though. It was an interesting day.
If anyone is Linked In, I’ve started an angora group, (well I think I have).
All the best
Lill
