We use electric mesh fencing around our does and kids. It is available from
the Farmer's mail box http://www.fmb.com.au I really recommend it, and yes,
it may seem expensive, but it lasts for years and it WILL keep out unwanted
predators.
Hope everyone else is going well. We've just have over two weeks of fine
weather, and while I haven't checked, I think that's the longest break of no
rain for many months.
We have just bought some goat shelters and a feeder from Slide Away hay
Feeders http://slideawayhayfeeders.farmnet.com.au/. We saw them at the
Seymore Expo and decided to give them a try as shelter is a bit of a problem
for us as we would like to strip graze some areas near our fruit trees.
I'll keep everyone posted on how we find the new equipment.
The latest addition to our family is a house cow. She has settled well and
we are milking between 7 - 8 litres a day. Half goes back to the
calf...(long story), and the rest I'm making into cheese and butter. I've
cleared out the summer veggie garden and am in the process of making heaps
of green tomato chutney. Oh country life.
Best wishes
Lill

Dear Cindy
How are you going. we haven't heard from you for while. I am just catching up on a few things. Nothing much on telly tonight. Do you have any Angoras left. Do you still have Cha Cha no.332 . It is her photo on the front cover of my book. She was a lovely doe. I have decided to breed my 4 young does this season (all I have left plus 2 bucks). I am feeling pretty fit now but still with a bit of limited movement with my arms. I can't drive at this point in time but I have one of those scooters so I can still zoom into town. A bit like riding a motor bike with 4 wheels but not as fast.
I've got the shearer booked for sometime in the next fortnight. At least not as many goats to do
Now I will see who else I need to contact.
regards
Val
