Back in the early days when Kiravans was a campervan rental company in Scotland, my brother and I used to spend our days building campervans to add to our fleet so folks could explore the Scottish Highlands. During our own van conversions, we got so fed up with the quality of the windows arriving from our (then) supplier and we were often left feeling irritated! In those days, you really only had 3 choices when installing windows into your van:A - Buy affordable but inferior windows made in ChinaB - Buy high quality but expensive windows made in the UKC - Buy original OEM glass, which was not designed for aftermarket installations. As you can imagine, we weren't happy with any of those choices. So we went on a mission. We researched everything we could on aftermarket van window production, hunted down multiple factories and made contact with several of them. Eventually, after much research, we carefully selected a trusted European supplier Rafet, with whom we've nurtured a strong partnership over the years. We are proud to say that back then in 2009, we led the way by introducing high quality aftermarket windows to the campervan industry at an affordable price. Nevertheless, there was nothing stopping our competitors following suit and so today, you'll discover numerous companies offering similar products with a simple Google search. We're also really proud that, 12 years on, our partnership with our European supplier has brought down the price of decent van windows by about 40%. Nowadays a pair of opening windows will cost you about the same as the fixed windows used to cost.

Sold as a Holden here a friend looked at buying a used diesel version recently but a dealer friend of her dads advised her they are unreliable european rubbish dont get one, I pointed out they use em as police patrol cars in some places the cant be too bad but she bought a Mazda anyway and I lent her the money to get the brakes fixed in that as they are a common problem so shes still mobile
We didnt get many ragtop Astras, not a big selling point where the sun will actually hurt you.

The famous German car manufacturer Adam Opel GmbH, the owner of the Opel logo (which may be described as a circle with a thunderbolt), has been forced by the German Federal Supreme Court to accept that its logo may be fixed to toy cars without its consent. This judgment has finally resulted following the application by the German District Court of the European Court of Justice's (ECJ) guidance and two further appeals in the German proceedings.

In this case Adam Opel GmbH (Opel) had registered the Opel logo as a device trade mark with the German Patent and Trademark Office for the goods - toys and cars. The toy manufacturer Autec AG (Autec) produces remote-controlled toy cars which look exactly like the original car: the Opel Astra V8 Coupe (which was manufactured by Opel). The dispute between the parties arose from the fact that the Opel logo was also fixed by Autec to its toy car in the same place as on the original Opel car.

Autec, however, asserted that it had fixed the signs "Autec AG" and its own trade mark "CARTRONIC" on the front page of the instructions for use and on the back side of the remote control which comes with each toy car. In its view, it would therefore be obvious to customers that the toy car did not originate from the manufacturer of the real car; Opel. Autec further stated that customers are used to the fact that the toy industry has produced imitations designed to be true to the original for more than 100 years. This included attaching an imitation of a logo to the toy in the same place where it is fixed to the original.

Based on this preliminary ruling of the ECJ, the District Court Nürnberg-Fürth dismissed Opel's claim. The District Court held that the relevant customers would perceive the small sized imitation of the original trade mark which is fixed on the same position as on the original car as being part of the toy car. In the opinion of the District Court, the customers would neither consider such toy cars as being produced by the manufacturer of the original car nor would they assume that an economical relationship exists, including a relationship based on a license agreement, between the manufacturer of the original car and the manufacturer of the toy car. The judgment of the District Court was confirmed by the court of appeal. However, Opel also appealed this decision.

Now the Federal Supreme Court of Germany has finally dismissed Opel's claim in the appeal proceedings. The court held that the rights of the trade mark owner, Opel, were not infringed in this case. According to the Federal Supreme Court neither the essential function of a mark (as an indication of the origin of the goods) nor the other functions of the mark were affected by such acts. This was because customers consider the Opel logo as fixed to the toy cars only as a reproduction of the mark needed to make the toy true to the original. The sign would be seen only as reproduction detail of the real car, not as indication of the origin of the toy cars.

GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra told analysts that the sale may not be GM's last. She said the company has work to do on some international businesses and could make a similar deal for them if they can't be fixed.

The newly developed locally autoadaptive image sensor LARS II (Lokal-AutoadaptiveR Sensor) with 368 256 pixels hits the demands of the automotive industry for high dynamic ranges. The splitting of the total dynamic range into a time information and an integration signal provides higher contrast images than logarithmically compressing imagers. Also locally autoadaptive sensors are inherently much less sensitive to fixed pattern noise and temperature variations. LARS employs the TFA technology where the optical detector made of amorphous silicon is deposited on top of the CMOS ASIC. The a-Si: H pin photodiode has been optimized for high sensitivity and low dark current. For the new generation of LARS imagers the pixel circuitry has been completely redesigned for lower transistor count and higher yield. It contains 17 transistors and 2 capacitors in a reduced pixel area of 40μm 38.3μm. The chip now contains CDS and DDS capabilities for both output signals and was fabricted in the 0.8μm 2M2P CMOS process of AMS. Images taken with the first prototypes show high sensitivity, excellent local contrast and improved dark and photo fixed pattern noise. Scenes with extremely high contrasts were captured without saturation or underexposure in any part of the picture.

In order to avoid friction and abrasion between a rotating element (4) and a fixed element (2), D5 suggested (see Blatt 1, page 3, Figure 2e) the provision of a slide member between these elements. Furthermore, D5 showed (see Blatt 2, Page 3, Figure 6) that such a slide member could also be arranged asymmetrically with respect to the rotating element. Therefore, the provision of a slide member as defined in the characterizing portion of claim 1 of the main request in a starter according to D3 was obvious for the skilled person dealing with the object mentioned above.

Moreover, the provision of a slide member in a starter to avoid friction and abrasion between a rotating and a fixed element was also suggested by D4 and D11. In the starter according to D4 the pressure disk (31) and the brake disk (26) had to be regarded as slide members, and in the starter according to D11 the anti-friction bearing (10) formed a slide member.

However, the new components are still in the initial phase. This means that, in addition to the upper oil pan parts, cylinder head covers and possibly another product will run on the HEC machines in future in order to ensure round-the-clock utilization. Accordingly, production is still alternating between HEC and CWK machines, and the NC programs must be geared to the "weaker" machine. Machining cannot be optimised until the machining managers have agreed on a fixed assignment.

Starrag Group representative Benny Van Haver mentions some key improvements to the details of the HEC 500 D in comparison with the predecessor model: "The telescopic covers of the previous model have been completely replaced with fixed sheet metal in the machine. This makes greater acceleration and rapid traverse possible as the sheet metal does not have to be carried along with the linear axes. The working space also now has a funnel shape in the cross-section, meaning that chips fall in the middle onto a chip conveyor. That means there are no more piles of chips, as these endanger process reliability". In addition, the new tool magazines offer excellent cleanliness. To achieve this, all hydraulic assemblies were removed from the surrounding area, and chips and cooling water are kept away from the changer.

A case from 2006 concerning an electricity cartel illustrates the difficulties of determining the loss in a case concerning damages for breach of competition rules. The municipality of Copenhagen claimed to have suffered a loss (320,000 kroner) caused by a bid rigging cartel for electricity works. The District Court of Gentofte found that the admitted participation in the Electricity cartel constituted a basis of liability on which the municipality could base its claim for damages. Although the District Court agreed with the municipality that the standard of proof should be mitigated regarding the loss, the Court found that the counterfactual situation without a cartel would most likely have resulted in a price, which was only 3 per cent lower, and the damages were therefore fixed at 50,000 kroner.
