My guess would be you're not doing anything wrong. Rather, Tim is
(*maybe*).
OR... perhaps (and this seem much more likely), your installation of OS X is
simply different enough from Tim's that the problem simply does not occur on
yours. Maybe we should be concentrating on what the difference between your
OS X installation and his is? Whatever the difference is seems to maybe be
related to the problem, because I'm doubting it's hardware related (although
that too is a possibility, albeit a very slight (unlikely) one).
