Dear Mr. Green,

First of all, on behalf of Herat Sister city working group, let me
appreciate your interest in starting a sister city relationship between
Herat and San Jose. This is something, we have been looking forward to
hear in the last few months. I believe, we will be able to make a good
relationship between the two cities.

Just to give you an idea about us, I am giving a short introduction of
each member here:

Sayed Wahid Qattali, group leader and Member of Provincial Council of
Herat Province;
Nqibullah Arwin, head of Herat National Radio and TV Station;
Somaya Ramesh, head of Naw Andishan Civil Society;
Jawid Noorzad, Chief Editor, Etefaq-e Eslam Newspaper;
Hamid Rahman Mohmand, Lecturer at Computer Science Faculty of Herat
University.

We are the core working group who have been pushing things around and
pulling strings to make this sister city partnership happen. We have
been calling upon other volunteers in Herat city who share the idea and
would be interested to join the process.

So far, we have been in contact with Sister City International and the
US Consulate to Herat Province. The administration of US consulate are
willing to support us and have provided us with many useful hints and
ideas in realizing the process better.

After applying for the Sister City and submitting our story on the
Sister City International website, we have been concentrating on
developing a website that could be used as a window to Herat city. Our
website is ready and right now contents are being examined by a group of
English Experts in US Consulate and within this week, latest next, we
will make the website public. We are just waiting for the final feedback
of the experts to bring about the required changes and publish our
website. I will post the link in the group as soon as it is final and
ready.

This is what the members here decided to do in today's meeting:

- Evaluated your meeting minutes to get an idea of what happened in the
your meeting on May,26,2012. It made us really happy to know you are
working on this process and we appreciate it. We are looking forward to
hear more about your progress.
- All the core working group's members joined the Google group
- Contact US Consulate to Herat and arrange a meeting to update them on
this initiative
- Set up meetings with other potential members and request them to join
the Google group
- Start working on the next steps to be taken about this initiative

Will you please send us also a copy of the San Jose-Okayama Sister city
partnership template? We need to get an idea about it too.

Looking forward to hearing more from you and all other group members who
wish to do something concerning about this initiative.

Best Regards
Hamid R. Mohmand
