Hi everybody,

Here is the information on the basic course.

There are 3 components to a basic diving course, also known as Open

Water Diver (OWD) Course, theory, confined water (pool) and open water

(sea).

The theory segment consists of a 5 hour DVD and a dive manual with

quizzes and an exam at the end. In my course, you will watch the DVD

and read the manual at your own time. After which I will go through

the manual with you. My theory sessions with you will be about 10

hours. Can be done over different days. We will choose a place of

convenience and coordinate with your schedule as much as possible.

Confined water session is done locally in a swimming pool. The basic

requirements to participate in a OWD course is a 200m swim and 10min

float in the water. You will get about 9-10 hours of pool time with

me, depending on the students' learning curve. If any student should

need another session to complete the skills, I will ask him to do

another pool session, no extra cost.

Open water is usually done overseas in Tioman, departing on Friday

evening and returning on Sunday night. All equipment and DVD will be

on loan to you for the duration of the course and is included in the

price. You need to do 4 certification dives. There will be a 5th

leisure dive included in the package.

The OWD package includes food (3 meals), transport and lodging in

Tioman. I give individual attention to my students and ensure that

they are well-trained. The OWD course is very important as it will

form the fundamentals of your diving skills. The ratio of instructor

to student for my open water classes is 1:4 or less. The trip departs

with a minimum of 3 students.

I  will gauge your skills and certify you under PADI, an international

diving certification, if you can meet all requirements for doing so.

The package price for the above, including trip to Tioman, is $680

each for a group of 4, twin-sharing on Tioman.

Compared wih other courses:

1) my theory time is 3 times more and on top of your DVD viewing time

2) pool session time is 1.5 times to 2 times more, all these increases

your skill level and confidence before going into the sea.

3) for the trip to Tioman, I do not take the overnight boat which is

uncomfortable, arriving at about 3am. I stay overnight in a hotel in

Mersing and take the early morning ferry the next day.

4) accomodation in Tioman is twin-sharing, instead of quad.

5) 5 dives during Open Water session instead of 4

Feel free to email or call me if you have any queries.

Best Regards,

Edmund Low
