Usinga link column means I have to navigate to the folder, find the link, copy it, and then add it in Monday. Using the Drive integration would mean that I can find it the same way I find a file. Super useful.

Hi, With DriveSync integration, you can easily connect your board items and files to Google Drive.

Whenever you create a new item, DriveSync will automatically create a folder for it in Google Drive. Plus, it will make sure that the files from your items get copied into their respective Google Drive folders too. Super convenient!

@reinhardts

You could also send the pdf along with a second, follow up, mail after a day or so saying that you have sent the earlier mail and asking if it was received. You could instead and more simply, in the first mail, ask for a brief reply that it has been received.

If they expect an email from you I would go for a link, ideally to a page (google docs style), and to a PDF as a second option.

Why? Because the online content can be changed as needed (possibly with versioning) but when you attach a document it is gone. And you must the rely on filenames such as article-V2-reviewed-draft-v4-final-reviewed-reallyfinal.pdf

If this is cold emailing and they do not expect your email I would send an introduction paragraph mentioning that the article is in the body of the email and as an attachment for their convenience.

Why? Because nowadays everyone avoids clicking around.

Although the feature for linking local drives has not yet been released into Smartsheet, after some testing, I have found that the best alternative method would be to link a cloud drive (Google Drive, Drop Box) within your sheet for sharing files.

I also could use this feature, and submitted a request to that effect. My company doesn't organize our local files on a cloud drive primarily for compliance reasons (healthcare). Linking local drives would be extremely helpful for maintaining 5+ year histories of ongoing trials.Save Draft

I opened a support ticket, but I can't close this pop-up no matter what I click or what browser I use and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight. I'm LOCKED OUT of my work because of some stupid UI refresh alert. ?

Greetings.

I would like to know if it is possible to open a link to a book link in google drive via the smartphonee.

I made a connection in the app via open link, on the computer it opens but via the smartphone the app does not open the link.

I know it's possible to put an expiration date on file/folder access you share with individual people in My Drive (should be available in Shared Drives too but that's a whole other discussion). But currently there is no way to put an expiration date on public links that you create. This seems like a massive security flaw and a basic feature that is already available on every competing cloud document storage platform. Is this something that is planned to be implemented anytime soon? And how do other organizations monitor the files that are readily available on the web with these public links? Over time, I can foresee this becoming a massive compliance nightmare. Thanks.

yeah this is a big gap IMO vs other cloud storage options. I tried to request access to the Feature Ideas thing, but it had a page error. Has this Feature been successfully submitted and where could one see the progress / estimation / updates on this? Thanks

You can submit requests to the Feature Ideas section here. See -Ideas/gh-p/workspace-ideas-group, and -id/Workspace-Feature-Ideas-FAQ for how to get access. This will allow it to be upvoted by others and possibly considered as a future feature enhancement.

If you are submitting a feature idea, be sure to explain the problem that you're trying to solve with the feature idea, not just the idea itself. For example, saying "when my users are trying to do 'A', they often get confused by the fact that the buttons to do 'X' and to do 'Y' look quite similar to each other, which leads to this unintended consequence" is far more likely to get fixed than a feature idea that just says "change the color of the button 'Y'".

But since you're new, be careful. It's common for scammers to bury instructions in offsite documents that would get a job taken down if they posted those in chat. If that doc has instructions for interviewing through video, Telegram, etc., or buying equipment, or paying off the platform, or anything odd like that, flag the job and walk away.

So if you want to maximize your success in hiring, and you don't want to drive away potentially great freelancers... Put your job details in the job posting. If there is something you don't want to post there, you can send it to the freelancer using the Upwork Messages tool.

the error message "Hmmmm... can't reach this page" with "ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED" usually indicates a network connection issue.

but, various factors may cause your shared link to not function properly:

- Sharing Limits: It's possible that you've reached your sharing limits. This is a brand new account set up just for the client so has never had any content shared before

- Account Validation: Microsoft might need to validate your account. I will look into this as the account is new and only created for this Client

- OneDrive Status: Ensure that OneDrive is operational. This account can share with my person outlook without issues

- Organization Restrictions: Your organization may have disabled or restricted sharing. I will look into this

- Recipient's Account: The recipient might not have a Microsoft account. The Clients who organisation is heavily embedded within the Microsoft 365 infrastructure. this was why we set up a One Drive to support

My personal email is my primary Google account. But my company uses Google enterprise, and colleagues are always sharing Google Plus and Google Drive links with me. When I click them, I usually see something like this:

and I'll get in. But not all Drive URLs follow this convention, and Google Plus URLs appear to have a different construction altogether. And switching accounts while on a Plus page redirects me to my Plus homepage.

If I have a need to for quick access to multiple Google accounts (work and home, for instance) I'll almost always use a second browser. Usually I'll use Google Chrome for my personal stuff, and Firefox for work.

Another way to manage it is to right-click the link and choose "Open link in incognito window". (Chrome, but just about every other browser has an equivalent feature.) Sure, you'll be prompted to log in, but you shouldn't lose track of where the link leads once you do.

For a more up to date answer: I believe if you use the "Get shareable link" option and not just copy and paste the URL from the browser you will get a valid URL that can be appropriately shared even for those using multiple accounts.

Anyone has the same experience ? On the desktop app, the file opens but on iOS app there is prefix is added to the attachment URL hence you get an IP address error. Anyone knows how to resolve this. Trello seems to open link in Chrome and not the default browser on the phone. Thanks

@milynnus for me it opens the Drive app, but I don't use the Chrome browser, I know that it's Safari settings on iOS that determine which app is used to open a given URL, perhaps that's still the case even when you're using Chrome, and you need to update your settings in Safari.

@Eric Linnert The problem is specific to links to documents in Google Drive. Links to Trello cards and boards is not the issue. So the articles you set does not help. Simply put with Google document links, Trello and Google Drive app cannot co-exist on the iPhone. Have not tested on ipad.

@milynnus sorry for not specifying. The thread I linked previously addresses opening Trello links in another app, but the procedure is the same for any iOS app (in your case Google Drive). So, basically it's the same issue though you can be sure of this by trying to open a Drive link from another app.

@Eric Linnert Let me suggest to you that you have either not read my post or try it. My point is that opening a link aka attachment on iOS Trello app is not the problem even if it is a link to a google document. It is when Google Drive App is also an app on the iPhone the Only attachment aka link to Google Drive gets this.

I have two google accounts.

One account I use more often as I use it for daily job tasks. I have some files which I read and write there daily.

One of those files is a shared file. I was shared that file for job and I have read/write permission on that file with this account.

Let's call this account "account-1"

While working with account-1, editing some documents (spreadsheets) I have made links (desktop configuration files) for two of these files (one for a file created by me and the other for the shared file) dragging the address to the desktop so I have two desktop configuration files.

The link that points to my own created file on G-Drive opens the the file with my account-1, as expected.

Instead, the link that points to the shared file opens the file with account-2.

This is inconvenient because i don't have writing permission with account-2. So I have to change account to be able to edit it.

I know with Firefox and likely Chrome as well it defaults to the last login. I have 2 accounts with google under different names. If I log in with one it will always default to it until I log out. If I stay logged out and go to say gmail.com I'm presented with a choice of 2 account to login in with. It seems though, that once i'm logged in I stay logged in under that user name even it I close the browser/tab until I log out.
