Engineers Australia will be hosting the 42^nd iteration of the Hydrology and Water Resources Symposium (HWRS 2024) in combination with the 15^th iteration of Hydraulics in Water Engineering Conference in Melbourne CBD from 18^th to 21^st November 2024, under the theme, "Shaping the future of water"

 

As the driest inhabited continent on Earth, Australia faces unique challenges with water scarcity, extreme rainfall events, and the emerging threat of changes in our climate. Australian community is already delivering to the current conditions and making our economy as success, by excelling integrated water management practices, adapting them to changing conditions and investing in resilient infrastructure. We can already measure, simulate, and communicate more readily than we could in the past. Nevertheless, to secure a future where all Australians have access to clean, reliable water, our ecosystems thrive, and our economy remains prosperous depends on an ongoing, dynamic exchange of knowledge and ideas between scientists, practicing water engineers, policymakers, and communities. Shaping the future of water is not just an option, it is an imperative call to continue developing and implementing innovative solutions, to share ground-breaking research and exceptional professional practices, and to remain the spearhead force in ensure responsible and smart water use for the generations to come. 

 

The HWRS 2024 aims to be the platform to exchange our understanding of the current and future challenges across the diverse fields of hydraulics, hydrology, ecological systems, and water resources management, to highlight and celebrate innovation, collaboration, new technologies, smart solutions, and excellent engineering practices, and to engage in conversations about shaping and building a resourceful future for the water industry in Australia.

 

Our dedicated team is hard at work developing the symposium website however we are open for abstract submission via our dedicated portal. This is your opportunity to showcase your research and contribute to the advancement of hydrology and water resources knowledge.

 

Abstract submissions are encouraged from practising water engineers, students, academics, researchers, and industry specialist providers working across the diverse fields of hydraulics, hydrology, water ecology and water resources management.

 

The abstract submission deadline is 11:59 PMAEDT Wednesday 8 May 2024. All abstract submissions will be peer reviewed by the HWRS Scientific Committee. The Scientific Committee may accept or reject abstracts and their decision is final. The outcome of abstract submissions will be emailed on Friday 27 May 2024. PhD students and Academics will have the option to submit extended abstracts (instead of full paper) if they plan to publish their research in a Scientific Journal.
