webcam driver update fiasco

i was trying to download the latest driver for my microsoft webcam. In
the process i had to enter my name email address and a cell phone
number...I know i may be the last person on this earth that does not
own a cell phone...so i entered my home phone and of course the
program discovered that it is NOT a cellphone number...so I made one
up and still can't get access to that download. This is the most
idiotic idea i ever heard of .

what is done when you enter the cell number... please can you tell me in some detail so that i can help you?
