Adding more memory

I have XP SP3 with 1gig of ram. I am thinking about updating my
desktop to 2 gigs. I hesitate a bit, cause of the remaining (2) 512mb
rams i have now. I do not want to throw them out...is there a market
for selling them or something? I am of the old school when memories
were very expensive and sometimes they had shortages, back in the
'old' days.LOL

Go for it and eBay the remaining ram. Compare with other sellers to see what you may be getting for your ram.
